With the first glimpse at Andor, Disney kicked off its Star Wars Celebration event. Diego Luna reprises his role as Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in the upcoming Disney Plus series. On August 31st, the programme will be available for streaming.
The show’s plot has remained a mystery, however Disney’s website characterises it as a “tense nail-biting spy thriller.” The season will be 12 episodes long, significantly longer than a traditional Star Wars programme, and will take place five years before the events of Rogue One, according to today’s panel. During the panel, Luna remarked, “You’re not going to recognise Cassian Andor at first.”
The official description is as follows, Cassian Andor’s journey to understand the change he can make will be the core of the Andor series, which will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy. The series tells the story of the Empire’s budding revolt and how people and worlds became engaged. It’s a time of peril, deception, and intrigue, and Cassian is about to go on a journey that will turn him into a rebel hero.
Andor is one of a slew of Star Wars series in the works for Disney’s streaming service. There’s The Mandalorian’s third season, but there’s also Obi-Wan Kenobi, a programme based on Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka, and a Lando Calrissian “event series” to look forward to.
