Honey Singh Divorced as Wife Withdraws Domestic Abuse Claims

  • Honey Singh and his wife, Shalini Talwar, have obtained an official divorce.
  • The divorce was granted by a Delhi court after a legal dispute lasting almost two and a half years.
  • The divorce process followed the guidelines outlined in the Hindu Marriage Act.

Singer-rapper Honey Singh and his wife, Shalini Talwar, recently obtained an official divorce after being married for nearly 13 years.

The divorce was granted by a Delhi court, and it was reported by The Hindustan Times.

The family court’s Principal Judge Paramjit Singh finalized the divorce, bringing an end to a lengthy legal dispute that lasted for almost two and a half years.

Under the guidelines outlined in the Hindu Marriage Act, a second step in the divorce process is usually initiated within a range of six to eighteen months following the initial divorce petition.

This intervening period, referred to as the interregnum, serves as a transitional phase, providing both parties with sufficient time to reflect on their choice to go through with the divorce.

In January 2011, Singh and Talwar got married, and in September 2022, they jointly submitted a divorce request to the family court under section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act. The court accepted their petition and initiated the mandatory six-month waiting period.

Ishan Mukherjee, the legal representative for Honey Singh, has confirmed that “the divorce decree has been issued, and the second motion has been granted.”

He stressed the private nature of the matter and refrained from making further comments. Advocate Vivek Singh, the attorney for Talwar, also chose not to make any statements, describing it as a marital dispute.

In August 2021, Shalini filed a domestic abuse case against the singer in the Delhi Tis Hazari Court.

Shortly after the case was filed, Singh vehemently denied the allegations on social media, calling them “malicious,” “false,” and “odious.” However, the allegations were later withdrawn after a settlement between the two parties.
