During a recent appearance on Faysal Quraishi’s podcast, actor Mohsin Abbas Haider made headlines with his outspoken criticism of TikTok and Instagram dance trends in Pakistan. While Haider expressed that he considers himself forward-thinking, he firmly stood by a controversial statement equating these dance videos to an online version of Heeramandi, a historical red-light district in Lahore. He explained his concern that some aspects of traditional culture and societal norms are being lost in the pursuit of viral content.

Haider emphasized that certain values must be preserved in society, stating, “Not everything is meant for the public eye, and we should be mindful of the image we project.” He further shared his dilemma regarding marriage, revealing that he would now think twice before marrying someone whose TikTok dances have made her highly visible.

According to him, the prospect of marrying someone “everyone has already seen” through such platforms is worrisome.
