Abubakr Shak recently gained widespread attention after starring in popular drama series Khudsar. The show, which aired at 9:00 PM from Monday to Friday, has just concluded.
The series boasted a star-studded cast, including Humayun Ashraf, Zubab Rana, Babar Ali, Arsalan Khan, and Sehar Afzal. Abubakr Shak portrayed the character of Nouman Ahmed, the son of Subhan Ahmed, played by Babar Ali.
Abubakr Shak made headlines for his distinct British accent. While many appreciated his unique accent, he also faced criticism for what some perceived as a fake accent. Several of his scenes from Khudsar sparked discussions among viewers.
Recently, Abubakr gave an interview to renowned journalist Haroon Rasheed, who is also known for his British accent, to discuss his newfound viral status and the public’s reaction to his portrayal.
Talking about becoming a viral sensation, Abubakar said, “My first scene went viral in which I inquired about my step mother, it wasn’t me who wanted to use those words like ‘My foot’, who uses such words. I just followed the script. I couldn’t change, although, I wanted to do it. I even told the director about it”.
Talking about his accent, Abubakr said, “I grew up in England, so, I got this accent from the various parts of the UK which include Swansea, Cardiff, London, Glasgow and Manchester”. Talking about criticism, he said, ‘even if I was pretending to be a fake Britisher, why is it bothering you so much’.
