LHC issues order to close educational institutions on Sat till Jan

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court(LHC) has issued an order to keep all educational institutions closed on Saturdays till the end of January due to smog.

The Lahore High Court issued a written order directing to issuing of a notification to close schools, colleges, and universities.

Justice Shahid Karim issued a written order on the petitions filed for the remedy of smog, in which it is said that the Punjab government is taking steps regarding working from home two days a week.

The order said that the word gym closure should be suspended in the notification, and the Meteorological Department should take departmental action against the officers who do not take action against smog.

On the other hand,  Lahore’s air quality index reached alarming levels where the number of particulate meters reached a record 330 at 7 am.

According to the Air Quality Index (AQI), the air in central Punjab, including Lahore and Faisalabad, is still highly polluted by smog.

Due to the high air quality index, Lahore has been declared as the most polluted city, where the number of particulate meters was recorded at 330 at 7 am, while the polluted air has made it difficult for the people of Lahore to breathe.

Lahore police arrest underage driver Adnan’s friend Ibrahim

LAHORE: Police arrested the accused Afnan’s friend Ibrahim in the case of the death of six people in a tragic road accident in DHA Lahore.

According to the police, Ibrahim was in the car with Afnan at the time of the incident, and Saad and Ali were also in the car.

Accused Ibrahim was also questioned by DIG Investigation Imran Kishore.

Police said that in the initial investigation, accused Ibrahim said that Afnan was driving the car and the incident was an accident, he did not harras  any women.

According to the police, efforts are on to arrest the other two accused.

On the other hand, the accused Shafqat Ali, the father of the accused Afnan, sought interim bail to avoid arrest, and Judge Abher Gul of the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court granted the interim bail.

The court granted interim bail to the accused Shafqat Ali till November 27 against a surety bound of Rs 100,000 and ordered the accused Shafqat Ali to be involved in the investigation.

It should be noted that on the night of November 12, six members of the same family were killed in a collision with a high-speed vehicle in the Defense Phase 7 area of ​​Lahore.

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Health Dr. Nadeem Jan held a meeting with the Director General World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Tedros during the Global Food Security Summit being held in London, UK.

He expressed his grief on the grave situation of health and nutrition in the flood affected areas in Pakistan affecting more than 33 million population.

He appreciated the efforts of Government of Pakistan in addressing this challenge faced by the country especially the vulnerable groups including adolescent girls, mothers and children.

Dr Nadeem Jan also shared the vision of the current government with regards to reach to the communities through UHC and focused on “Health for all” approaches and he thanked the WHO for extending their support for provision of equipment and supplies.

Dr. Tedros assured complete support of WHO to alleviate the suffering of those in need in the flood affected areas and discussed the role of WHO Pakistan in the overall efforts of UN organizations and partners.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court ordered the case against the repatriation of Afghan citizens to be heard in open court.

Pakistan People’s Party leader Farhatullah Babar and others have filed a petition to stop the return of foreign nationals.

Justice Yahya Afridi of the Supreme Court heard the in-chamber appeal in which the court rejected the objections of the Registrar’s Office.

The court ordered the case against the repatriation of Afghan citizens to be filed in an open court.

It should be noted that the government had given a deadline of October 31 for the illegal immigrants in the country to leave Pakistan, after which the illegal immigrants are now being shifted to the campus.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council(SJC) unanimously dismissed the complaint against the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, Sardar Tariq Masood.

A meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa in which the complaint against Justice Sardar Tariq Masood was reviewed.

Amna Malik had filed a complaint against Sardar Tariq Masood, on which she was also issued a notice.

According to the sources, the complaint against Justice Sardar Tariq Masood was dismissed unanimously and the council said that nothing concrete was revealed in Amina Malik’s complaint, on which the complaint was dismissed unanimously.

Amina Malik said in a conversation outside the court that the Supreme Judicial Council heard her complaint, after hearing the complaint complainant said directed to go. She said “ I don’t know what order was issued on my complaint”’.

The sources further said that the complaints against Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi will be reviewed after the break and the council meeting has been adjourned.

MIANWALI: Amjad Khan Niazi, a former Member of the National Assembly(MNA) of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was arrested from Mianwali.

Amjad Niazi claiming these charges to be baseless, stated he is surrendering in pursuit of justice. According to the police, two cases of arson and vandalism have been registered against Amjad Niazi on May 9 and 10.

Amjad Niazi was wanted in the cases of vandalizing the office of a sensitive institution and burning a model of a plane.

The police said that Amjad Niazi will be produced in the special anti-terrorism court tomorrow.

On the other hand, former PTI ticket holder Barrister Khalid Nisar Dogar was also arrested by the police from Burewala.

According to the police, Khalid Nisar has been charged with clashing with the police in the May 10 protest and more than 100 PTI workers have also been named in the case.

The police said that terrorism and other provisions are included in the case against Khalid Nisar.
