  • Police of both provinces would work together to eliminate menace.
  • 11 gangs of dacoits could not be allowed to challenge writ of government.

KARACHI: Sindh and Punjab governments have chalk out a comprehensive strategy to launch a joint operation against bandits in the Riverine area of both provinces.

The Caretaker Chief Ministers of and Punjab along with their respective chief secretaries and inspector generals of police held a mammoth brainstorming session here at CM House to finalize the strategies for launching a joint operation against the bandits in the Riverine Areas of both provinces.

Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Sindh Chief Minister Justice Maqbool Baqar discussed the upcoming joint clean-up operation against the dacoits.

The two chief ministers discussed the gangs involved in the kidnapping for ransom, their overall strength, positions, and hideouts in the thick forests of the River Indus and exchanged notes on how to attack them from both sides of the aisle- Sindh and Punjab- and eliminate them once and for all by removing the stigma.

Sindh Chief Minister Justice Maqbool Baqar said that he visited Sukkur and Ghotki and stayed there for two days to finalise the operation against dacoits.

The Punjab CM Mohsin Naqvi said that the purpose of the meeting was to sit together to finalize the operation strategy, further, the police of both provinces would work together to eliminate the menace.

Inspector General of Police, Punjab briefing the meeting that the main Kacha Area falls in the area of District Rajanpur, however, the Kacha areas of Ghotki & Kashmore also adjoin Rahim Yar Khan – the areas of Machka and  Kot Sabzal police.

The Sindh Cm was told that there were seven Islands in Rajanpur which affect Rahimyar Khan as well.

Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi said that the Kacha Ronti of Ghotki and Kacha Gehalpur of Kashmore affect Rahim Yar Khan. There is a symbiotic relationship between gangs, the Punjab IG said. He added that there were five gangs in Rajanpur and 11 gangs in Kashmore and Ghotki districts identified through the sharing of information system established between the two provinces.

The Punjab CM said that the 11 gangs of dacoits have hardly 600 gang members and they could not be allowed to challenge the writ of the government, therefore a joint operation was inevitable.

Pakistan has highest ratio of breast cancer in Asia: Dr Omema

Pakistan
  • Woman dies due to breast cancer in every 13 minutes.
  • Every one out of nine women becomes breast cancer patient.
  • Routine mammogram test can reduce chances of breast cancer.

KARACHI: The ratio of breast cancer in the country is the highest in Asia. In 2020, more than 650, 000 deaths were reported globally due to breast cancer. It occurs in every country in the world. Every one out of nine Pakistani women becomes a breast cancer patient at some stage of their life.

There is a myth in society that cancer spreads rapidly after a biopsy which is wrong and misleading. After a timely diagnosis patients should immediately start the treatment to avoid the worst-case scenario. These views were expressed by Dr Omema Saleem of Dow University of Health Sciences on Thursday.

She was addressing the awareness session regarding breast cancer organized by the Centre of Excellence for Women’s Studies of the University of Karachi.

Meanwhile, Dr Farha Essa from Dr Essa Lab said that every 13 minutes, a woman dies due to breast cancer. She observed that a routine mammogram in women over fifty years of age can reduce the chances of breast cancer deaths by 25 to 30 percent.

She informed the audience that the symptoms of breast cancer are very clear and a person can easily discover it, if anyone feels it, they should immediately consult a doctor because it can be easily treated with a timely diagnosis.

Another speaker, the KU Syndicate member and a medical officer at the KU Medical Centre, Dr Muhammad Hasan Khan Auj shared that lack of awareness is one of the main reasons for the rapid increase in breast cancer in Pakistan.

Later, the acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi Justice Retired Hasan Firoz said that we need to promote more awareness in society to reduce the ratio of breast cancer in the country.
