A massive fire was spotted blazing up a skyscraper near the world’s tallest structure, the Burj Khalifa.
The 35-story building in Dubai caught fire on Monday morning, with flames racing up the outside of the structure.
The fire, which started in the early hours of the morning, was contained by daylight; it is unknown if anyone was injured in the blaze.
Images of the building’s exterior reveal obvious damage from the fire, with black scars visible a long way up.
The building is thought to have been designed by Emaar, the same company that created the Burj Khalifa.
At the time of writing, Emaar has not published a statement regarding the fire.
Dubai’s skyscrapers have a history of catastrophes, with a number of similar incidents occurring throughout the city in recent years.
According to the Independent, concerns have been made regarding the city’s construction safety credentials.
In April, the luxurious Swissôtel Al Murooj hotel, also near the Burj Khalifa, caught fire.
In another incident, on New Year’s Eve in 2015, the 63-story Address Hotel in the city’s downtown caught fire.
