Eight NASAMS – National Advanced Surface to Air Missile Systems – were promised to Ukraine by the US this summer. In October, the White House declared that the delivery of two systems will be accelerated.
NASAMS can intercept Russian cruise missiles and offers short- to medium-range defenses. The similar approach is employed to safeguard the airspace around Washington, DC.
