- The new Prince of Wales thanked the throng for waiting hours in the cold.
- He said: “It’s emotional being here because she’d never believe this”.
- William cracked a joke after grasping a mourner’s icy hand and thanked other royal mourners.
When Prince William thanked the crowd for spending hours in the cold outside Westminster Hall to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II, he was overcome with emotion.
While shaking hands with royal mourners, the new Prince of Wales became upset and exclaimed, “You’re doing wonderful.” “We love you!” the throng replied.
“It’s very emotional being here because she would never believe this, honestly,” he said, surprised by the line.
“It’s amazing you’re all here, it really is. And I hope the queue goes fast for you”
“And you make lots of friends on the way,” he added.
“Lovely to see you,” he added.
“We love you,” mourners told Kate’s husband.
As he thanked other royal mourners, the father of the tree walked to the back of the line. Earlier, William made a joke with the audience by touching a mourner’s hand who had been out in the cold for a while and said, “Cold hands.”
