  • The Firm is expected to assign the couple new significant roles.

A close friend of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry appears to be under fire for allegedly inciting resentment toward Kate Middleton and Prince William, who are relocating to Windsor.

Richard Eden has levelled the accusation against Omid Scobie after he wrote an article accusing the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge of wasting the Sovereign Grant funding but moving to Windsor.

Writing for Yahoo, Mr Scobie said, “Despite spending over $5.4 million on turning Kensington Palace into a forever home, the Cambridges are leaving London this month for a new property in Windsor. Was it all a waste of Sovereign Grant funding?”

Mr Eden told, “I see Omid Scobie is desperately trying to whip up anger against the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge..again.”

Scobie, without naming Eden, reacted, “All the time in the world to tweet nonsense but not even a few minutes spent reading the actual article they’ve chosen to cry about”.

To be closer to the Queen, Prince William and Kate Middleton are relocating their family from Kensington Palace in London to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor. The Firm is expected to assign the couple new significant roles.

UNISAME calls for steps to curb further rupee depreciation

UNISAME calls for steps to curb further rupee depreciation

KARACHI: The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has urged State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Syed Murtaza to take concrete measures to curb further rupee depreciation.

It also called for steps to ensure that the rupee regains its true value based on the price of gold and the rate of the dollar in the international market, according to which the parity rate works out to be Rs175 against the dollar.

The SBP may fix the rate at Rs175 to a dollar to stabilise the economy facing uncertainty, as importers and exporters are both not in a position to anticipate the cost of landed goods or the invoice value for exports.

UNISAME President Zulfikar Thaver said that what the country is witnessing is speculation of money exchange companies and the investors who are benefitting by making dollar a sort of parallel currency by parking all their undisclosed money in dollars.

Secondly, Afghanistan traders are buying dollars from Pakistan’s open market and creating shortage.

Thaver said that the Pakistan economy cannot bear anymore the burden of Afghanistan, which has been carrying on its activities of imports through Pakistan and indulging in full time trading via Pakistan in the name of transit trade.

The UNISAME Council experts said: “We welcome the genuine trade with Afghanistan and the facility of transit trade for Afghanistan as its exports and imports are routed through Pakistan but Afghani traders must not take advantage of this facility and arrange for its requirements of foreign currency through its own sources and procure the required dollars from the international market as per its own parity rates against the dollar. They can buy from the UAE or Singapore open markets.

The experts also urged the government to tighten the foreign exchange dealers and warn them to follow the rules and regulations and not indulge in arranging dollars for the money launderers and speculators and to cancel their licence if found guilty of this malpractice.

In fact, it would be wise to handover this exchange business to commercial banks who already have a full-fledged business of foreign currencies and if given this task they will be happy to widen their network at airports and trade centres, business plazas and malls.

WhatsApp’s crackdown on banks alarms asset managers

WhatsApp's crackdown on banks
  • A number of fund companies are increasing controls on employee messaging apps like WhatsApp.
  • They join banks in trying to make sure staff follow the laws when conducting business remotely.
  • This is intended to prevent and expose violations like insider trading and “front-running”.

As they join banks in trying to make sure staff follow the laws when conducting business with clients remotely, asset managers are increasing controls on personal communication apps like WhatsApp.

Regulators had previously started to crack down on using unauthorized messaging services to discuss potentially market-moving issues, but the situation became more urgent in 2020 when the pandemic made it necessary for more finance personnel to work remotely.

Banks have made up the majority of the companies investigated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for communications and record-keeping violations; these institutions have collectively paid fines or set aside more than $1 billion to cover regulatory penalties.

However, fund companies with enormous asset bases are likewise becoming more scrutinizing employee-client interactions.

According to one deals banker who wished to remain unnamed in accordance with his employer’s policies regarding speaking to the media, “It is the biggest topic in the industry right now.”

In December of last year, JPMorgan was penalized $200 million for “widespread” violations, according to an international news agency, which also claimed that the SEC was investigating whether Wall Street firms had effectively documented employees’ work-related contacts.

A number of banks, including Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, and Credit Suisse, have made similar provisions. German asset manager DWS announced last month that it had set aside 12 million euros ($12 million) to cover potential U.S. fines related to investigations into the use of unapproved devices and record-keeping requirements by its employees.

According to sources at a number of other investment companies, or what is known as the “buy-side” in the financial community, including Amundi, AXA Investment Management, BNP Paribas Asset Management, and JPMorgan Asset Management, they have implemented tools to ensure that all interactions between employees and clients are compliant.

Although the SEC and CFTC’s spokespeople declined to comment on whether their investigations would go beyond banks, industry sources anticipate that authorities will cast a larger net throughout the banking sector and even into government.

Following an inquiry that revealed “inadequate data security” during the pandemic, Britain’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the nation’s top data protection watchdog, demanded a review of the usage of WhatsApp, personal emails, and other messaging applications by government officials.

‘Betaali Prem Katha’ written and directed by Fawad Khan amazed the audience

Fawad Khan
  • The theatre drama ‘Betaali Prem Katha’ is written and directed by Fawad Khan.
  • A Pakistani author has created and adapted a Hindi-language drama with Betaali Prem Katha.
  • The colours also contrast with the colours of the set, enhancing the drama’s visual appeal.

The National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), the leading performing arts organisation in Pakistan, has presented yet another production of top-notch theatre in Karachi.

An incident from the antiquated Sanskrit epic “Kathasaritsagara” served as the inspiration for the drama Betaali Prem Katha. The crowd has been raving about it since its August 14 debut in Karachi.

People still came up for the artistic treat in Karachi despite the dreary weather. The play has received continuously favourable reviews from viewers, who had nothing but admiration for Fawad Khan’s script, direction, and the actors’ performances.

A well-known personality in theatre and the arts Fawad is renowned for his original approach to playwriting and directing.

Khan draws inspiration from Intizar Hussain, a well-known Pakistani author of Urdu novels and short tales. With a dash of “Nautanki,” he aimed to write a tale that could capture the rich cultures and traditions of South Asia. For the first time, a Pakistani author has created and adapted a Hindi-language drama with Betaali Prem Katha.

The drama is even more enjoyable to watch thanks to Khan’s subtle humour additions. Although the play is set in a mythical world, its message is also applicable to everyday life.

The experience is enhanced with five traditional compositions by music director Ahsan Bari.

The cast dances to a traditional song sung by Bhagat Bhoora Laal and his band at the beginning of the show. Then, a character named Prem is introduced (played by Raheel Siddiqui, a well-known theatre performer also known for his work on DastanGoii), who by accident travels to the city of Roopnagar where he meets Betaal, a Genie-like being with magical abilities (played by Sunil Shankar, a well-known TV actor and theatre performer).

With the help of his supernatural abilities, Beetal writes a play in which Prem has a part and tells him that there will be a question at the conclusion. He warns him that if he can provide the correct response, his life would be saved, but if not, he will stomp on his skull and consume his blood.

Through the theatrical performances and musical flourishes, the audience may truly understand the essence of the ancient civilization.

Furthermore, an immersive, richly layered set that accurately portrays the city of “Roopnagar” was constructed by Tariq Raja and Ossama Ranjha.

The play’s costumes were thoughtfully created by theatre artist and costume designer Erum Basheer while taking into account the various personalities of the characters. The colours also contrast with the colours of the set, enhancing the drama’s visual appeal.

FIFA 23: Players to resemble Marvel superheroes
  • A few players will be decked up like Marvel superheroes.
  • Players will be reinterpreted as Marvel characters for Ultimate Team modes.
  • Only 21 players will have access to the Marvel cards, which debuts on November 11.

Famous footballers will be dressed in skin-tight spandex as part of the impending Marvel crossover with FIFA 23, according to EA Sports.

For the Ultimate Team mode of the game, a few players will be decked up like Marvel superheroes.

The key events of former football players’ careers will be depicted in superhero fashion by Marvel artists, who will also reinterpret past players.

Additionally, the illustrators will depict FUT Hero Cards, which were introduced in FIFA 22.

Five of the special FUT Hero Cards have been made public by EA, including those for Yaya Touré of the Ivory Coast, Ricardo Carvalho of Portugal, and Park Ji-sung of South Korea.

Each player has received a Marvel-inspired outfit. US actor Landon Donovan’s appearance is comparable to Captain America, while Ji-armor Sung’s is comparable to Iron Man’s.

While Marvel adds their characters to Disney Plus, EA is coming up with innovative strategies. Although a superpowered Toure might not be able to defeat She-Hulk in a battle, he could undoubtedly score more goals.

The unique fashions will debut on November 11. Each player will receive two FUT Hero Cards—one standard and one unique World Cup variant.

Only 21 players will have access to the Marvel cards, though.

No signs of shrinking in human brain: Study

No signs of shrinking in human brain
  • The size of the human brain did not alter 3,000 years ago, or ever, according to a recent article.
  • Anthropologist Brian Villmoare of the University of Nevada and chemist Mark Grabowski of Liverpool John Moores University intervened.
  • The size of the human brain has remained “remarkably steady over the previous 300,00 years” and has not changed.

The size of the human brain did not alter 3,000 years ago, or ever, according to a recent article published in ‘Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution’, refuting a widely held and popular belief.

In response to an article published by Jerome DeSilva of Dartmouth College and colleagues in 2021, anthropologist Brian Villmoare of the University of Nevada and chemist Mark Grabowski of Liverpool John Moores University have intervened.

According to the 2021 paper, the human brain may have lost up to 150 cubic centimeters of volume during the Iron Age, or roughly the size of a lemon.

According to DeSilva’s team, the brain shrinks as a result of “self-domestication” and a preference for collective over individual thought.

Villmaore said that comparing the brains of sapiens to those of any other species was worthless and meaningless, in contrast to DeSilva’s study which examined 10 million years of evolution, including apes.

The dearth of fossils from other human species was one of the causes. We were described as being an altogether distinct species.

Villmaore reportedly told Haaretz that they had doubts about how DeSilva’s work handled data statistically. Since it was “the most complete,” the no shrinkage study used the same data.

However, their statistical approach and, ultimately, their results, were different.

He explained, “The point was that we need to throw out all this material about human devolution. “It is simply untrue.”

According to their research, the size of the human brain has remained “remarkably steady over the previous 300,00 years” and has not changed as a result of changes in community and agriculture.

The no shrinkage paper responded to DeSilva’s comparison of ant and human societies by pointing out the distinctions between the two and arguing that collective intelligence lowered size in both clades.

In contrast to ants, which are primarily slaves, Villmaore claimed that humans are a competitive species. He said that vertebrae form alliances, are hostile, sociable, and possess larger brains.

He asserted that elephants and rhinos might be compared because the former live in herds while the latter does not.

He said that the elephant brain was six times larger than the rhino’s.

He also identified a different problem. He said that DeSilva connected the agricultural revolution to the shrinking and claimed that it happened internationally.

The timing of this revolution would have varied depending on where on the planet it occurred. This does not account for all global brain shrinkage in people.
