KARACHI: Another heavy rainfall system advancing toward Sindh and Baluchistan from the Bay of Bengal, where a downpour is expected from July 22 to July 26. The rain system could also cause urban flooding in Karachi and adjoined areas, the meteorological department of Sindh told BOL News.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has alerted the concerned departments of the upcoming rainfall. PDMA directed the Deputy Commissioners, Deputy Directors, and other stakeholders to make arrangements to assist people during the rain.
According to the report, PDMA asserted that the upcoming raining system could cause urban flooding in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur. A heavy breeze is also expected, which can damage the weak infrastructure in the cities. Due to heavy rain in Sindh and Balochistan, a flood situation is also expected in the Hub Dam where the water levels have already increased to the fullest.
In Dadu and Jamshoro, flash flooding is possible, too, according to the details in this report. There are already plans in place to relocate those who have been harmed by flash flooding. Water drainage should be backed by readily available dewatering equipment and staff. People affected by the rain will also have access to a helpline.
