Princess Beatrice’s outfit for Prince Philip’s memorial earlier this week defied royal convention.
A 1,800-strong crowd of Royal Family members, dignitaries, and officials from the Duke of Edinburgh’s patronages and charities gathered at Westminster Abbey earlier this week to honour the late Prince Philip.
The event was the Queen’s first large-scale appearance since a string of cancellations due to a time of bad health.

The York sisters, Beatrice and Eugenie, were among those who supported the monarch during Tuesday’s service.
Their husbands, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Jack Brooksbank, accompanied them. Beatrice donned a stunning fitting coat dress by Nonoo Lyons with velvet shoes by Gianvito Rossi for the occasion.

The dress has shoulder embellishment, a gathered waistline, and striking bell sleeves. Beatrice also wore her go-to accessory, an oversized headband.
She wore a burgundy gown that was layered with maroon flowers and included an attractive black facial veil to the memorial.
Wearing black attire to a funeral is regarded as proper etiquette, and facial coverings are considered a symbol of respect for the departed and the wearer’s loved ones in the same way.
