“Maryam Nawaz never read a book in her entire life”: Fawad Chaudhry

Fawad Chaudhry Maryam Nawaz

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has on Wednesday said that expecting wisdom from political novices like Maryam Nawaz would be like constructing a channel of milk.

In a tweet, Chaudhry said that Maryam Nawaz had never read a book in her life and she had no habit of reading and research.

He said all the stress of the PML-N leadership was to oppose Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Earlier, the PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz had said that as soon as the name of Nawaz Sharif is heard, the opponents tremble. Nawaz Sharif was ousted, the prime ministership was snatched away from him and a conspiracy was hatched to assassinate Nawaz Sharif in jail.

She had said that Imran Khan is conspiring to pledge Pakistan’s assets adding that Imran Khan is mortgaging the roads built by Nawaz Sharif.

She said that the cabinet meeting was planning how to stop Nawaz Sharif instead of public welfare.

“Nawaz Sharif knocks them in every election by sitting in London,” Maryam said.

Maryam Nawaz said, “today Nawaz Sharif is not alone, his daughter is standing like a soldier with him, Nawaz Sharif is also our pride and glory.”

He said that after losing the case of Occupied Kashmir, now Imran Khan’s eyes are on Azad Kashmir.

Maryam Nawaz said that the conspiracy to sell Kashmir was hatched in the United States.

He directed the PML-N supporters not to leave the polling stations till the result will announce to shun rigging.

The PML-N leader said that the Prime Minister was seeing his defeat in the next elections so he was talking about electoral reforms.

Deadly Rain, Floods In China Kill 12, Forced Thousands To Flee Homes

China rain floods

So far twelve people have been killed in Henan province of China as torrential rain lashed the country and forced thousands to abandon their homes and leaving a dam at risk of collapse.

Roads and subway stations have been submerged across the Henan province of China as heavy rain has brought severe floods.

Images and videos shared on social media on Tuesday showed passengers up to their necks in water and clinging to the handrails inside a carriage on Zhengzhou’s subway.

“The water reached my chest,” a survivor wrote on social media. “I was really scared, but the most terrifying thing was not the water, but the increasingly diminishing air supply in the carriage.”

Storms have hit Henan province since the weekend in an unusually active rainy season that has caused rivers to burst their banks, flooding the streets of a dozen cities.

Weather authorities in Zhengzhou say the rainfall was the highest since record-keeping began 60 years ago with the city seeing the kind of rain it usually gets in a year in just three days.

On the other hand, soldiers from the PLA were sent to carry out an urgent response including blasting and flood diversion.

Also, President Xi Jinping says the situation is “extremely severe” after the city of Zhengzhou saw a year’s worth of rain in just three days.

PTA blocks use of TikTok app and website in Pakistan

PTA bans TikTok

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has on Wednesday declared it had blocked the popular video-sharing application TikTok in Pakistan over “inappropriate content”.

“In the light of relevant provisions of Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016, PTA has blocked access to TikTok App and website in the country,” PTA said in its official tweet.

“The action has been taken due to the continuous presence of inappropriate content on the platform and its failure to take such content down,” it added.

Sindh High Court Directs PTA To Restore TikTok In Pakistan

Earlier, the Sindh High Court (SHC) had announced to lift the ban from TikTok, one of the most popular video-sharing applications globally.

The SHC had reversed the decision on banning TikTok and directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to restore the application.

The court, however, has directed the PTA to expedite the disposal of LGBT related applications.

Moreover, the PTA has promised to dispose of the complaints by July 5.

On Thursday, Tiktok issued a response message to the Sindh High Court’s (SHC) order to ban the app across Pakistan.

Previously, the SHC ordered to suspend the video-sharing app TikTok across the country over immoral and objectionable content.

“The creativity and passion of our community has brought joy to households across Pakistan and provided a home for incredibly talented creators,” said TikTok in a statement.

“We have grown our local-language moderation capacity for Pakistan, and work diligently to review and take action on content in violation of our Community Guidelines,” it added.

“We continue to work with regulators, and look forward to serving the millions of TikTok users and creators in Pakistan who have found a home for creativity, fun and vital economic opportunities for many years to come,” the statement by TikTok concluded.

Babar Azam hopes team can produce good results in Future After T20 Defeat

England defeats Pakistan by 2-1

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has on Wednesday said he was aware of the mistakes his side had made during the series against England and assured the team would struggle through them.

Adil Rashid took a career-best haul before England just did enough in a nervous chase to wrap up their white-ball home season with a thrilling three-wicket victory over Pakistan in the third and final T20I of the series at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

England wrapped up the T20I series with a 2-1 victory following the embarrassing ODI defeat — 3-0 — that Pakistan had endured at the hands of the hosts just a few days ago.

Babar Azam, speaking during a post-match press conference, said his side had a 15-20 run short target for England in the final and decisive T20I match.

The skipper said the team suffers a setback when wickets fall continuously, adding that the batsman had played some amateur shots during the third T20I.

He praised the spinners for bowling well and noted that Pakistan’s fielding was getting better with time. “We still need to work on building [match-winning] partnerships.

“Mohammad Rizwan’s performance was up to the mark during this tour,” Babar added.

Admitting failures in the field, Azam said that they would not repeat their mistakes in the next match and would try to play good cricket.

Pakistan Celebrates Eid-Ul-Adha With Religious Ardour

Eid-ul-Adha 2021 in Pakistan

Muslims all across Pakistan, Bangladesh and India are celebrating Eid-ul-Adha 2021 under strict precautionary measures amidst the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Eid-ul-Adha 2021 celebrations in the country, which will last till Friday, come at a time when a steady rise in COVID-19 cases has been witnessed and the threat of the Delta variant looms high.

The day started with special prayers in mosques for the well-being of the Ummah and the progress, prosperity and security of the country.

Ulema in their sermons of Eid highlights the significance of the philosophy of great sacrifice offered by Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismail (AS).

After the Eid prayers, people will offer sacrifices of animals to follow the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).

Owing to the potential of Eid becoming a probable cause for the fourth wave — the government has urged the nation to scale back on gatherings.

People should maintain social distancing during Eid prayers. The government has made special security arrangements to ensure peaceful observance of the three-day festivity across the country.

Here are five things to know about Eid al-Adha 2021:

Origins

Muslims believe the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) was tested by God who commanded him to sacrifice his first-born son, Ismail.

Ibrahim was prepared to submit to the command, but God stayed his hand. Instead, he was told to sacrifice an animal, likely a lamb or sheep.

End of Hajj

Eid-al-Adha also marks the end of Hajj, a five-day pilgrimage all healthy and financially capable Muslims are obliged to undertake. The Hajj is believed to cleanse the soul of sins and instil a sense of equality, sisterhood and brotherhood.

Around 2.5 million Hajis from around the world gather annually to the cities of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia for the ritual.

Eid Prayers

Most Muslims begin celebrating Eid by performing extra prayers in the morning.

Mosques are packed with worshippers on Eid day with outside arrangements made to accommodate large groups of people.

Sacrificing Animal

The occasion of Eid-al-Adha is marked by sacrificing an animal that Muslims can eat – a goat, sheep, cow or camel – by those who can afford to do so.

In many parts of the Muslim world, special livestock markets are set up for people to buy an animal for the Eid sacrifice.

This year, amid the coronavirus pandemic, numerous apps and websites have appeared

Distribution Of Meat

The animal sacrifice comes with an element of charity and donation, as the person paying for the Qurbani is required to distribute part of it to needy people.

The meat of the sacrificed animal is divided among three groups: the person sacrificing it and their immediate family, extended family and friends, and those in need.
