PSL 2021: “Zalmis are focused on playing their best game,” says Shoaib Malik

On Thursday night, Lahore Qalandars managed to beat Peshawar Zalmi by 10 runs in the 17th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021.

Peshawar Zalmi were chasing a target of 171 and Shoaib Malik stood firm after coming in to bat. He stayed on the wicket till the 19th over and scored the 65th half-century of his T20 career, but he couldn’t help his side win the game.

However, after losing the match, Shoaib Malik in his statement said, “After starting off well against Lahore Qalandars, Zalmi leaked too many runs in the death overs.”

“We leaked runs in death overs, as a team we were not expecting Lahore Qalandars to score around 170 and we missed the trick there, we should’ve done better,” Malik said.

“Rashid Khan’s bowling turned the table, it broke our back by taking all our important wickets. So, he was the key factor and difference between the two sides despite leaking runs in death overs,” said the former Pakistan captain.

“I have always played for my team’s cause and I will continue following this as long as I am playing cricket,” Shoaib Malik added.

“We did bowl well in the start but I think we missed availability of a wrist spinner in the middle overs. But at the same time, we must appreciate Ben Dunk and David who batted really well and also kept strike rate high to help LQ post a good total,” the 39-year-old player said.

He, however, added that the Zalmis are focused on playing their best game and execute whatever they would plan in the matches to come.

“Table looks very close and all the games are important, we need to be at our best in matches to come,” Malik concluded.

Note that Afghan cricketer Rashid Khan recorded his career-best figures in franchise T20 cricket, taking 5-20 off his four overs as Lahore Qalandars beat Peshawar Zalmi by 10 runs to extend their lead at the top of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 points table.

Budget 2021-22 Updates: Latest News Of Budget 2021 Pakistan

The budget for the financial year 2022-2021 has been presented in the National Assembly.

The total outlay of the budget for the year 2021-22 is Rs8.487 trillion, presented by the Federal Minister of Finance Shaukat Tarin in the National Assembly.

In the federal cabinet meeting, it was approved that Capital Gains Tax (CGT) will decrease to 12.5 per cent.

Rs900 billion is being set aside for the federal development budget and Rs. 1,330 billion for defence.

The target for tax collection in the new financial year will be Rs 5,705 billion, 480 billion in pensions, 530 billion in subsidies, 900 billion in development budget, 510 billion in civil government expenditure and 994 billion in grants.

Reduction in capital gains tax to attract foreign investment

The Federal Budget FY22 has proposed a reduction in the capital gains tax (CGT) rate on the disposal of shares to 12.5 per cent from the existing 15 per cent.

Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk has good news for its valuable customers as it finally unveiled its ultra-fast Model S Plaid at its factory in Fremont, California.

The electric vehicle company will begin with 25 deliveries on Friday evening, expanding to several hundred cars per week and a thousand cars per week in the next quarter, CEO Elon Musk said at the event.

“This is nine years since we delivered the first model S, the first car produced here in Fremont, so almost a decade, and I think we’ve really taken it to a whole new level with Plaid,” said Musk to the audience.

“Some of you may know that our product plan is stolen from Spaceballs, we’ve gone Plaid speed. So…why make this really fast car, that’s crazy fast and everything, and I think there is something that’s quite important to the future of sustainable energy, which is that we’ve got to show that an electric car is the best car, hands down. It’s gotta be clear, like, man, sustainable energy cars can be the fastest cars, can be the safest cars, can be the most kick-ass cars in every way, added Musk.

“Model S goes to Plaid speed this week,” Musk tweeted on Sunday. “Plaid+ is cancelled. No need, as Plaid speed is just so good.”

Ahead of the federal budget 2021-22, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has on Friday said that Pakistan is moving towards economic stability after a long time under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In a tweet, today, Fawad said all the economic indicators are positive.

The Minister said political and economic stability was attained due to full confidence of the general public and institutions in the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He urged the opposition to treat accountability and reforms separately and take part in the negotiation process with the government for electoral and judicial reforms.

On the other hand, all eyes will be on the National Assembly as the PTI-led government presents its third federal budget today (Friday).

The government has said it aims to move towards growth from stabilisation via direct interventions to provide relief to four to six million people. The budget revolves around the three Ds on the expenditures front, including debt servicing, defence and development.

Alarmingly, the resource envelope has diminished after paying resources to provinces under the NFC mechanism and fulfilling the debt servicing obligation.

The budget for the financial year 2022-2021 will be presented in the National Assembly today.

The total volume of the budget for the year 2021-22 is likely to be more than Rs 8,000 billion, which will be presented by the Federal Minister of Finance Shaukat Tarin in the National Assembly.

Will there be an increase in the salaries of government employees or not? The final decision will be taken at a meeting of the federal cabinet before the budget is presented.

It is proposed to increase the salaries of government employees by 10 to 15 per cent.

PSL 2021: Sarfaraz Ahmed Aspires Gladiators to score big Against United

As Quetta Gladiators is all set to take on two-time champion Islamabad United in the 18th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 tonight, Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed says we will play every match like the final.

After suffering the setback against Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United will be aiming to recover themselves in this match against Gladiators in the 18th match of PSL 2021 remainders.

“We are already behind on the table and cannot afford any more defeats. If we want to make it to the knockout stage we have to win each match from here on so it is all to play for in Abu Dhabi. We have to put in the best in every department of the game to stay in the competition,” Sarfaraz said in a virtual presser.

“Yes, we had a horrendous run in Karachi when our game plan went haywire, particularly our fielding. That is surely one area we’ve been working on diligently,” he added.

Wicketkeeper-batsman opined that every individual knows his role and won’t repeat their previous mistakes.

“Every member of the team is capable of delivering and making the best use of his abilities. What we want from our batsmen is to stay at the wicket and make sure that there are enough wickets to go for a kill in the later part of the 20 overs. And when it comes to restricting opponents we should make the best of our bowling abilities,” he maintained.

Earlier on March 1, the United had defeated Gladiators in Karachi. However, all the contributors to the previous winners are not available to Islamabad on Friday.
