Elon Musk’s Twitter bid worried employees ‘Its a huge risk’

Elon Musk’s Twitter bid worried employees 'Its a huge risk'

As word of Elon Musk’s hostile takeover offer emerged on Twitter on Thursday, employees voiced anxiety that their workspaces would suffer under the firebrand tech mogul’s leadership, as well as fatigue about the company’s unclear future.

In recent weeks, Musk has mocked Twitter on the social network, reduced major company decisions to polls for his roughly 80 million followers — and disrupted the company’s “focus week,” with news of his takeover on Thursday, when it lowers superfluous meetings to provide employees time to concentrate on their projects.

According to people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive matters, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal held a companywide meeting that afternoon to reassure his workforce of 7,500 full-time employees by arguing that one man could not change a culture and that it was up to the company to set strategy.

Musk’s reputation, earned in part through his trolling on Twitter, is proving to be a liability among the social media company’s employees.

Twitter is well-known for its diverse staff and open work atmosphere. Musk, on the other hand, has appeared to ridicule gender pronouns, has spread coronavirus misinformation, and his firm Tesla has been the subject of numerous lawsuits for claimed racial discrimination and sexual harassment.

Several employees expressed their discontent with Musk on Thursday.

Employees at Twitter had a wild month as Musk first purchased a large investment in the firm, then agreed to join the board, then quit before he could join.

Elon Musk Replies Jeff Bezos With A Double Entendre Over Space Contract

Elon Musk Jeff Bezos

Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk has taunted Amazon Chief Jeff Bezos after reports that Bezos’ Blue Origin planned to contest a NASA award presented to SpaceX.

The two billionaires Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, who have been striving to launch long-range orbital rockets, were competing and requesting the government to develop a spaceship to deliver astronauts to the moon till 2024.

By teasing Bezos, Musk tweeted: “Can’t get it up (to orbit) lol.”

His tweet did not have any celebration but Tesla’s Chief also shared a screenshot of a 2019 report about Bezos unveiling Blue Origin’s moon lander.

Blue Origin has fallen far behind SpaceX and United Launch Alliance (ULA) on orbital transportation, losing out on billions of dollars’ worth of U.S. national security launch contracts that begin in 2022.

These rocket startups mainly intend to send satellites for customers into orbit at an affordable price.

Earlier, Tesla’s Chief Executive (CEO) Elon Musk had shared good news for those who are willing to buy the electric car.

Taking to Twitter, he had revealed that a person can now buy a Tesla using Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency.

“You can now buy a Tesla with Bitcoin,” he tweeted.

You should invest in Bitcoin only if you are Elon Musk, says Bill Gates

Bill Gates Bitcoin Elon Musk

The cryptocurrency bitcoin broke a new record last week and its value had crossed $50,000 after Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk had bought $1.5 billion worth of the crypto-currency.

Days after this announcement, Bill Gates, the world’s third-richest man after Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos took a shot at Elon Musk after he announced taking a $1.5 billion stake in Bitcoin.

Elon has tons of money and he’s very sophisticated, so I don’t worry that his Bitcoin will sort of randomly go up or down,” Bill Gates said.

“I do think people get bought into these manias who may not have as much money to spare, so I’m not bullish on Bitcoin. My general thought would be that if you have less money than Elon, you should probably watch out,” he said.

The Microsoft’s founder, however, slammed Bitcoin as environmentally unfriendly, saying that cryptocurrency “happens to use a lot of energy” for the servers used to process transactions.

Earlier, Bitcoin’s price had soared to an all-time high, breaking above $43,000 apiece, after Tesla bought $1.5bn of the cryptocurrency.

The world’s largest cryptocurrency had started trading 15% higher at $44,141 after Tesla’s announcement.

“In January 2021, we updated our investment policy to provide us with more flexibility to further diversify and maximize returns on our cash that is not required to maintain adequate operating liquidity,” reads the filing.

“Thereafter, we invested an aggregate $1.50 billion in bitcoin under this policy and may acquire and hold digital assets from time to time or long-term.”

It further added, “In addition to the bitcoin purchase, Tesla expects to begin accepting bitcoin as a form of payment for its products in the near future, subject to applicable laws and initially on a limited basis, which we may or may not liquidate upon receipt.”

Tesla employee accused of tipping reporters; to pay $400,000 to end lawsuit

Tesla employee accused of tipping

Former Tesla employee ordered to pay $400,000 after allegedly accused of tipping reporters about production inefficiencies and delays

According to the details, the payment by Martin Tripp, a former process technician at Tesla’s Gigafactory, was part of a settlement detailed in a Monday filing with the federal court in that city.

Tesla and Musk became embroiled in a public dispute with Tripp in June 2018, when it fired and then sued him.

Earlier in September, the judge dismissed Tripp’s defamation counterclaim over statements from Tesla, including an email to employees where Elon Musk accused him of “sabotage”.

According to the court filing, the accused did not contest Tesla’s claims that he stole trade secrets, and acknowledged that his counterclaims were funded by a short seller of Tesla stock.

Moreover, the Electric-Car maker had recorded a major profit spike of a fifth quarter in a row despite the pandemic.

Tesla said it made $8.7 billion revenue in the three months to September, as deliveries rose 54%.

The firm said it still hoped to meet its goal of delivering more than 500,000 vehicles this year but warned this had “become more difficult”. Analysts also warned the firm faced mounting competition.

So far, Tesla has delivered fewer than 32,000 cars to customers this year – but nearly half of those – 139,593 – came in the three months ended 30 September.

That was up 54% from the prior quarter and 44% year-on-year.

However, the carmaker automatically rose to a profit of $311 million – more than double what it made during the same period last year.

Shares in the firm have more than quadrupled in value since the start of the year – and climbed higher in after-hours trade on Wednesday.
