Government discontinues sale of Rs25,000 prize bonds

On Thursday, the Federal government has stopped the sale of Rs25,000 bonds, the Finance Division said in a notification.

According to the details, the step has reportedly been taken to address the Financial Action Task Force’s concerns over money laundering and terror financing.

Moreover, the investors after May 31, 2021, will not be able to encash or redeem the Rs25,000 prize bond.

Cash payment for encashments of cited bonds is not allowed. However, the bonds can be converted to Premium Prize Bonds, Special Saving Certificates, Defence Saving Certificates, or encashed at face value.

The conversion to certificates can be done through 16 field offices of the State Bank of Pakistan or at branches of six authorized banks

Emirates has good news for its passengers traveling to Dubai as it is offering a free stay at the JW Marriott for all travelers visiting Dubai from December 6 until February 28, 2021.

According to the details, Emirates has partnered with Dubai’s Department of Tourism on a promotion.

I tested positive for Covid-19, says Neetu Kapoor

Veteran Bollywood actress Neetu Kapoor has confirmed that she has been tested positive for coronavirus during the shoot of Jug Jug Jeeyo and now has isolated herself.

Taking to her Instagram account the Love Aaj Kal actress shared a statement to confirm the news and wrote,

“Earlier this week, I tested positive for Covid-19”.

Neetu added, “All safety measures are being followed and I am thankful to the authorities for all their help and quick response.”

The veteran actress went on say,

“I am in self-quarantine, taking medication on y doctors’s advice and feeling better.”

“Please stay safe, wear mask, keep safe distance. Take care,” Neetu said before signing off.

According to the details, the first property on Deira Islands, with an 800-room resort, will open for visitors at 10:00 am. Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine data under cyberattack

In a cyberattack on Europe’s medicines regulator, Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech said that documents related to coronavirus vaccine development on Wednesday had been “unlawfully accessed”.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA), which allows and approves medicines and vaccines for the Europen Union, said that it had been targeted in a cyberattack. It did not reveal any more details regarding the matter.

Moreover, Pfizer and BioNTech believed that no personal data of trial participants had been leaked and EMA “has assured us that the cyber attack will have no impact on the timeline for its review.”

It was not clear that when or how the EMA was attacked, or who was the culprit behind the cyberattack.

BioNTech spokeswoman had declined further comment and Pfizer also did not reply immediately to a request for more comment.

NUMS postponed remaining MBBS and BDS exams

National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Rawalpindi has postponed all the remaining MBBS and BDS exams for 2020.

A press statement issued by the university’s management read that exams have been postponed for all its constituent and affiliated colleges.

NUMS said the decision was taken due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The new dates for exams will be announced later by NUMS.

NUMS conducted an entry test for (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) session 2020 for its 13 medical and five dental constituent and affiliated colleges across the country and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) simultaneously two months ago.

It was Pakistan’s first nationwide entry test for medical and dental institutions without involving any testing services from outside.

Around 50,000 candidates had appeared for the test this year, however, it will be mandatory for the successful candidates to pass the National Medical and Dental Colleges Admissions Test (MDCAT) as announced by Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC).

BISE Lahore extends SSC exam fee submission date

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has extended the fee submission date for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam.

After instructions from the Punjab Board Committee of Chairmen, BISE Lahore on Wednesday announced the new deadline for the submission of online forms. According to the details, the decision came after COVID-19 cases increased across the country.

The SSC exams are scheduled to start on March 6, 2021. Now, students can submit their exam forms for a single fee till January 20, 2021.

Moreover, online forms with double can be paid till February 1, 2021. A triple fee option will be available till February 12 at any HBL branch.

It is pertinent to mention here that in the last 24 hours, Pakistan has reported 3,138 new coronavirus cases, bringing the tally to 429,280.
