NAB requests Foreign Ministry to paste notices at Nawaz Sharif’s Avenfield apartments

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to paste summon notice at residence of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Mian Nawaz Sharif in London.

According to the details, NAB has requested Foreign Ministry to paste notices at Avenfield apartments. Foreign Ministry’s Deputy Director for Europe has contacted Pakistani High Commission and directed them to implement court orders.

According to NAB sources, officials of Pakistan’s UK High Commission will visit the residence of Nawaz Sharif to paste summon notices at 16A, 16, 17A and 17.

Furthermore, a notice summoning former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Toshakhana case was also pasted on his Raiwind residence.

CAA clears 18 Pakistani pilots working for Oman’s airline

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Tuesday cleared the licences of 18 Pakistani pilots working for Oman’s SalamAir after the Arab country’s civil aviation requested for the verification and clearance of the Pakistani pilots working in Oman’s airline company.

The names of the pilots cleared by the CAA Pakistan are Captain Fawad Shahab, Sheikh Saifullah, Mohammad Bilal Malik, Mohammad Javed, and Mohammad Rashid.

Moreover, the licences of Captain Muhammad Athar Iqbal, Muhammad Asif, Farhan Khan, Babar Sultan, Farrukh Bhatti, Sajjad Malik were also cleared. Whereas, Captain Zia-ul-Haq, Natasha Sultan, Abbas Rizvi, Omar Jafar, and 3 other captains received clearances from the authority.

On July 18, the CAA had suspended licences of 34 pilots of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) suspected of holding fake degrees.

The notification issued by the aviation authority had said that the licenses will remain suspended till the inquiry against the pilots has not been completed.

Separately, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) had also ordered its member states to bar Pakistani pilots from working.

Nokia rolls out software upgrade to 5G technology

Telecommunication brand Nokia on Tuesday has launched its latest software update through which users can upgrade their 4G radio stations to new 5G technology without any troubles of visiting the site or replacing equipment.

Nokia hopes the software will help it in its battle against Huawei and Ericsson for the next wave of 5G orders as the technology should allow carriers to save on costs.

“This solution will save the telecommunications industry potentially tens of billions of euros in site engineering and re-visit costs,” The Finnish firm said in a statement.

Nokia said the software upgrade was available immediately for about one million radio stations, growing to 3.1 million by the end of 2020 and to over 5 million in 2021.

“By upgrading existing radio elements via software, Nokia is helping to streamline the process of refarming 4G spectrum into 5G,” the company said.

LHC petition seeks ban on TikTok, says it is peddling vulgarity

A lawyer approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday seeking its directives for the authorities concerned to ban highly popular social media app TikTok in Pakistan.

Advocate Nadeem Sarwar states in his petition that the video-sharing app is disastrous for the younger generation as it is not only leading to wastage of time and money but also peddling vulgarity.

Besides, he submitted, acts of blackmailing and harassment are on the rise because of TikTok. If not banned, it would prove to be harmful to the country’s social fabric, he added.

Therefore, he pleaded with the high court issued directives for the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to impose a permanent ban on the use of TikTok.

PM Imran approves 2nd phase of Kamyab Jawan Program

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday has approved to launch second phase of Kamyab Jawan Program. he aims to provide more opportunities to the youth across the country.

According to the details, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, Usman Dar, called on PM Imran Khan to discuss matters related to Kamyab Jawan Program.

During the meeting, PM Imran directed Usman Dar to immediately launch the second phase of the Kamyab Jawan Program. The federal government also released Rs25 billion for phase 2 of the program.

The government has also increased the loan amount for phase 2 from Rs5 million to 20.5 million. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued circular to all banks in this regard.

Moreover, the federal government has reduced the markup for the second phase from 6% to 3%.

Body of actress Naya Rivera discovered from California lake, saved her son before drowning

US officials on Monday discovered the body of American actress Naya Rivera in the Californian lake where she drowned during a boat trip with her 4-year-old son.

According to a police official, Rivera’s body was retrieved and an initial examination found no evidence of foul play or suicide.

“We are confident the body we found is that of Naya Rivera,” said police, pointing to the location, appearance, clothing and condition of the body.

Her body was being taken for a full autopsy and confirmation of her identity from dental records, though no other missing persons have been reported at Lake Piru, he added.

Naya Rivera is believed to have accidentally drowned after renting the boat with her young son at the camping and recreational hotspot near Los Angeles.
