5 Utterly amazing facts about Apples

5 Utterly amazing facts about Apples

Today, we bring these newly discovered facts to light! Hopefully, you’re prepared to recall some information

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first supergroup to use Apple as a brand name.

Apple Corps was launched by the Beatles in 1968 to represent their creative interests. After Apple Computer became well-known, the two companies came to an agreement that Apple Computer would not use its logo or brand in the music industry. Apple starts producing music via iTunes in early 2003, and that altered everything. It took another seven years for the Beatles to eventually give up and allow iTunes to broadcast their music.

That said, as Snow White can attest, apples aren’t entirely benign

The fruit’s immune system includes a chemical called amygdalin, which is found in apple seeds. The amygdalin in apple seeds can break down into hydrogen cyanide, which can be lethal in high concentrations if crushed or chewed. However, it would take at least 160 apple seeds to endanger an adult’s life.

There’s plenty of truth to the saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”

A large apple has about 115 calories and 5 grams of fiber per serving, and the polyphenols and fiber in the fruit help to balance bacteria in your gut. Apples are, in fact, one of the healthiest fruits you can eat. But don’t peel it: the skin contains two-thirds of an apple’s antioxidant properties and most of its fiber.

There used to be a greater variety of apple cultivars.

While local grocery stores may appear to have a good assortment, we’re still a long way from what fruit historians refer to as “the golden period of pomology.” There were over 14,000 different apple variations in the United States during the 19th century. Only about 100 apple varieties are commercially grown now.

That forbidden apple in the Garden of Eden? It could have been a pomegranate

The narrative of Genesis does not specify which fruit Eve convinced Adam to give her. The generic term peri is used in the Hebrew Bible to indicate a fig, a grape, a pomegranate, an apricot, or even wheat, according to rabbinic scholars.

Instagram introduces another useful feature testing ads on a shop tab

Instagram introduces another useful feature testing ads on a shop tab

Instagram Shops launches first-ever ad testing on its platform to attract more e-commerce users

Instagram is working to make its platform more useful for e-commerce business and now the management of this social media platform says that we are planning to launch ads on Instagram Shop. This is our auction-based product that is being tested in the United States, and if this experiment is successful, this new format will be introduced in other markets.

Advertising in Instagram Shops will make e-commerce outlets more efficient in their use of Instagram Shops. Instagram emerged last year introduced the Shops feature to further strengthen Facebook’s use for online shopping. The checkout feature was integrated, while with the recent development, sellers will be able to present their product for sale online in the form of a photo or a whole reel of images.

According to Instagram, the ads feature is currently only available to mobile users in the United States, and ads will be shown depending on the user’s use of Instagram.

The Instagram Shop tab, which replaced the popular “Activity” tab (heart button) in the bottom navigation row, was one of the phone’s more controversial updates in recent years since it made the service feel more commercially driven than in the past and alienated some users. As Instagram moves further away from its photo-sharing roots, the creative community is contemplating its choices.

Tomato – A Fruit Or A Vegetable?

Have You Ever Wondered? Tomatoe Is A Fruit Or A Vegetable

Tomatoes are undoubtedly one of the most versatile foods available at our home in a summer salad as they are in a tasty marinara sauce. Have you ever wondered that tomato, is a fruit? Or is it possible that we’re eating vegetables?

Are tomatoes a fruit or a vegetable?

This is a matter that farmers, caterers, and attorneys all have different solutions. It may seem simple to us.  Or is it healthy to eat it for lunch? Vegetable. Is it good to eat it for dessert? Fruits! But it’s not that simple. There are legal and scientific definitions for fruits and vegetables. Tomatoes are classified as fruits since they are formed from a blossom and contain seeds.

Why are tomatoes vegetables?

Let’s have a look at the definition of fruit to see if tomato is a fruit. Fruits are “the generally edible reproductive body of a seed plant, particularly one having a delicious pulp,” according to Merriam-Webster. The tomato plant itself is a seed plant having the red, edible tomatoes we know and love. Tomatoes aren’t as sweet as other fruits (like peaches), but they’re nonetheless tasty.

Tomatoes are technically fruits, although they are classified as vegetables by law. That may come as a surprise, but the term “vegetable” actually covers a lot more than you might imagine. A vegetable, according to Merriam-Webster, is “a generally herbaceous plant cultivated for an edible portion that is usually eaten as part of a meal.” This indicates that all plant parts, such as total assets, are included in the vegetable category.

Tomatoes are fruits and vegetables

Tomatoes may seem to either be clearly not vegetables based on this criteria. Is tomato, then, a fruit? No, not really. Congress approved a tariff measure in 1893 that imposed a 10% tax on entire vegetables. As a result, merchants claimed that tomatoes were fruit to avoid paying the tax. The Supreme Court ruled in the case that tomatoes should be categorised as a vegetable rather than a fruit.

Do You Know Why are humans constantly blinking?

Do You Know Why are humans constantly blinking?

Have you ever participated in a staring competition? Because of the natural urge to blink, it might be difficult to keep your eyes open for long periods of time.

There are two main reasons, said Dr. Brenda Pagan-Duran, a clinical spokesperson for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and an ophthalmologist in New Jersey. First blinking removes particles from the eyes. “It aids in the removal of a foreign body,” she told Live Science. “It may be something that blew in under the eyelid.”

Blinking, on the other hand, lubricates the eyeballs. To keep vision from becoming fuzzy, the eyes require a smooth surface for light to properly focus on. To maintain the surface of the eyeball smooth, blinking releases a tear film, which is largely made up of water, oil, and mucus. It also helps to keep the eye from drying out, which can be irritating.  “When you have a large area of dryness, it almost feels like a scratch on your cornea,” which is the eye’s outer protective layer, Pagan-Duran said. This can be very painful because there are many nerve endings in the cornea.

The tear film also supplies oxygen to the eye. Blood vessels don’t reach the cornea, but the tear film directly transfers oxygen to it. The film also contains enzymes that fight bacteria and help prevent the eye from becoming infected.

Blinking can also aid when you’re feeling down. When you cry, you blink more frequently to clear the tears away, according to Pagan-Duran. This keeps a lake from forming on the eye, which could cause vision to blur.

It’s a reflex to blink. It happens unintentionally, but you can force yourself to blink. Blinking takes 400 milliseconds on average, according to Pagan-Duran. She went on to say that most people blink between 10 and 20 times each minute, with the average being about 15 or 16 times. However, certain circumstances cause people to blink more or less frequently.

Vaccines cut Chance Of Being Infected With Delta Variant

People who are fully vaccinated with a two-dose coronavirus vaccine have a 50% to 60% reduced risk of being infected with the delta variant.

The study examined nearly 100,000 people who took COVID-19 swab tests at home 527 patients tested positive for the coronavirus in that sample set, and 254 of the samples were genetically investigated; all of the sequenced samples were found to be the highly transmissible delta variant.

After accounting for characteristics such as age, the researchers discovered that those who received two vaccine doses were 49 percent more likely to test positive for the coronavirus even if they had no symptoms, and that vaccinated people were 59 percent less likely to test positive with symptoms.

Meanwhile, early data from Israel suggested that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was 64% effective against symptomatic disease caused by the delta variant, and data from Canada found it was 87% effective against symptomatic disease

Newer data from Israel found that the efficacy of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against Delta slipped to 39% (but is still 88% effective against hospitalization and 91% protective against severe illness.

Vaccinated people also had a lower viral load on average, implying that they shed less virus and are less contagious than unvaccinated people, according to the current study. Other research has suggested that the delta variation causes equivalent virus levels in unvaccinated and vaccinated patients who test positive.

“The delta variant is known to be highly infectious, and as a result, we can see from our data and others’ that breakthrough infections are happening in fully vaccinated people,” Steven Riley, a professor of infectious disease dynamics at Imperial College London, said in the statement. “We need to better understand how infectious fully vaccinated people who become infected are, as this will help to better predict the situation in the coming months, and our findings are contributing to a more comprehensive picture of this.”

The infection rate was highest among young people aged 13 to 24, and lowest among those aged 75 and up. Riley told Reuters that people aged 5 to 24 accounted for over half of the infections, but accounting for barely a quarter of the population.

“Today’s report shows the importance of taking personal responsibility by self-isolating if you are contact traced, getting tested if you have symptoms and wearing face coverings where appropriate,” U.K. Health and Social Care Secretary Sajid Javid said in the statement. “I urge anyone who has yet to receive a vaccine to get jabbed and take up both doses — the vaccines are safe, and they are working.”

4 Ways To Stop Yourself From Scrolling Social Media All Day

4 Ways to stop yourself from scrolling social media all day

Most of us are stuck at home all day and night due to the pandemic! We can’t socialize to our hearts’ content, and we’re tired of the same old routine. When we’re bored like this, the only thing that comes to mind is to check our phones. Our initial reaction when we open our phones is to check all potential social media platforms, and once we get into the trap, we can’t get out.

Continuously scrolling through social media might cause a range of bad emotions. It can make you envious of other people’s lives and make you feel as if you’re falling behind. It can make you feel exhausted, jealous, and inept. So we’ve come up with a few simple techniques for you to avoid wasting your day skimming around social media.

We immediately open social media if we have free time or want to take a vacation from work. However, there are many other intriguing things you may do with your free time, such as pursue your hobby and make an attempt to avoid using your phone.

Such apps can be very useful in putting an end to the endless scrolling. Many apps allow you to establish a time limit for when you can use social media, and when you go over that limit, the app sends you a notification telling you to stop using social media.

When your phone buzzes to tell you that someone has recently put a new image on their page, you immediately stop what you’re doing to check it out and end yourself scrolling through social media for an hour. To avoid this, the best thing you can do is turn off your social media notifications so they don’t distract you and lead you to fall into the trap.

Hide your social networking app icons is another excellent method. You may just make a new folder and put all of your social networking app icons to it, so that you don’t have to see such apps on your home screen when you open your phone.

Riddle That Will Wreck Your Brain

Riddle That Will Wrack Your Brain

You need to be one smart cookie to solve this long riddle!

There is a basket full of hats. Three are white and two are black. Three men, Tom, Tim, and Jim, each take a hat out of the basket and put it on their heads without seeing the hat they selected or the hats the other men selected. The men arrange themselves so Tom can see Tim and Jim’s hats, Tim can see Jim’s hat, and Jim can’t see anyone’s hat. Tom is asked what color his hat is and he says he doesn’t know. Tim is asked the same question, and he also doesn’t know. Finally, Jim is asked the question, and he does know. What color is his hat?

Answer: The hat is white. If Tom doesn’t know his hat color then the other two men’s hats cannot be both black otherwise he would know his hat is white. When Tim doesn’t know his hat color either, that means Jim’s hat could not be black otherwise Tim would have to know his hat was white based on Tom’s answer.

Pakistan Is Way Too Important for US To Overlook, Mooed

Moeed Yusuf.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s National Security Adviser (NSA) has chastised US President Joe Biden for failing to contact Prime Minister Imran Khan as Washington seeks assistance in preventing the Taliban from seizing control of Afghanistan following the withdrawal of US troops. The cold shoulder from Washington comes as the Taliban have captured swaths of territory across Afghanistan in a ruthless offensive emboldened by the US pullout.

In recent years, Washington has relied on Pakistan to bring senior Taliban leaders to the negotiating table and secure a deal to leave the country with few attacks on American troops.

Despite calls from Khan to be a partner for peace and broaden US-Pakistan relations beyond Afghanistan, Biden has yet to call him since taking office this year.

“The president of the United States hasn’t spoken to the prime minister of such an important country who the US itself says is make-or-break in some cases, in some ways, in Afghanistan — we struggle to understand the signal, right?” In an interview with the Financial Times at Pakistan’s embassy in Washington, Moeed Yusuf, Pakistan’s National Security Adviser, said.

“We’ve been told every time that . . . [the phone call] will happen, it’s technical reasons or whatever. But frankly, people don’t believe it,” he said. “If a phone call is a concession if a security relationship is a concession, Pakistan has options,” he added, refusing to elaborate.

Pakistan has developed deep ties with China, its “iron brother,” which has invested billions in infrastructure projects as part of the Belt and Road Initiative.

A senior Biden administration official said: “There are still several world leaders President Biden has not been able to speak with personally yet. He looks forward to speaking with Prime Minister Khan when the time is right.”

The diplomatic insult is the latest blow in US-Pakistan relations following their cooperation during the fight on terror following the 9/11 attack on the twin towers by al-Qaeda.

Pakistan was designated as an official major non-NATO partner by the United States in 2004, in response to Washington’s demand for assistance in Afghanistan.

However, successive US administrations have accused Pakistan of harboring Taliban, a charge disputed by Pakistan. The US cut $2 billion in security aid to Pakistan during the Trump administration after  Donald Trump accused his ally of “nothing but lies & deceit”. After Trump made a deal with the Taliban that relied on help from Pakistan, however, he invited Khan to the White House.

Yusuf was part of a team visiting Washington that included the head of Pakistan’s ISI intelligence agency to discuss the Afghan crisis.

According to a source familiar with last week’s discussions with National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, the conversation about Afghanistan was “tough,” but that securing a political settlement — which regional experts see as unlikely while the Taliban gains ground on the battlefield — could help dramatically improve the US-Pakistan relationship.

“There is a lot of effort underway to try to get that [negotiated settlement] process to be a more meaningful process,” said the person. “This is a moment where, arguably, our interests really align, but it’s really up to them to see what they want to do next.”

“There is no question of a civil-military disconnect in Pakistan, let me be categorical if the prime minister had not instructed me and the delegation to be here, we won’t have been here,” said Yusuf, who added that Pakistan had diminished leverage over the Taliban.

During their visit, PBS aired an interview with Khan in which he said the US “really messed it up” in Afghanistan and that Washington had treated Pakistan “more like a hired gun.” One of a recent slew of critical pieces aimed at US audiences struck some US officials as oddly timed given Pakistan’s efforts to secure a reset.

Yusuf described his conversation with Sullivan as “constructive,” but added that if such media appearances backfired, Pakistan would “reconsider,” adding that the goal was “not to upset anybody [but] to put very forthrightly Pakistan’s view on the situation.”
