Pakistan stands firm on its stance as Istanbul talks with Afghanistan end in deadlock

Pakistan and Afghanistan’s talks in Istanbul ended in a deadlock, according to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar. He said Pakistan appreciated Türkiye and Qatar for mediating the discussions, but emphasized that Pakistan remained firm on its stance.

Tarar stated that Afghanistan must take responsibility for controlling terrorism originating from its soil. He added that the Afghan Taliban had failed to fulfill its international, regional, and bilateral commitments made under the 2021 Doha Peace Agreement.

He reaffirmed that Pakistan holds goodwill for the Afghan people and wishes them a peaceful and stable future. However, he made it clear that Pakistan will not support any actions by the Taliban government that go against the interests of the Afghan people or neighboring countries.

Tarar concluded that Pakistan would continue taking all necessary measures to protect its people and national sovereignty.
