LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly has received a resolution expressing full support for the 27th Constitutional Amendment, signaling strong political backing for the proposed reforms.
The resolution was tabled by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) lawmaker Hina Parvez Butt.
According to the text of the resolution, the House fully endorses the 27th Constitutional Amendment, terming it essential for institutional stability and transparency.
It emphasizes the need to grant constitutional protection to local governments to prevent any future attempts to undermine the system.
The resolution also welcomes the decision to establish a constitutional court, stating that the amendment will strengthen judicial independence and neutrality.
It further notes that the amendment will reinforce provincial autonomy and federal balance, while enhancing the autonomy and effectiveness of the Election Commission.
The House acknowledges that the amendment represents institutional evolution rather than a revolution, and pays tribute to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for pursuing constitutional reforms.
Reaffirming its commitment, the House declares that the 27th Constitutional Amendment will serve as a milestone in strengthening Pakistan’s state institutions.
