Former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has reached another historic milestone, once again proving his class not just with the bat, but also as one of the finest fielders Pakistan has ever produced.

During the Tri-Nation T20 Series final against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi, Babar went past legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi to become Pakistan’s highest catch-taker in international cricket. The record-breaking moment came when he safely held on to the catch of Kusal Mendis.

Babar snapped up three catches in the final, lifting his overall tally to 170 international catches, while Afridi had finished his career with 167.

On Pakistan’s all-time catching leaderboard, former captain Younis Khan still dominates with 281 catches, followed by Inzamam-ul-Haq on 194, as Shahid Afridi now slips to fourth position.

The Rawalpindi final also brought Babar another feather in his cap. With three more sharp takes in the T20 contest, he became Pakistan’s most successful fielder in T20 internationals with 60 catches, overtaking Fakhar Zaman (57). Veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik follows in third place with 50.

From breathtaking cover drives to match-winning catches, Babar Azam continues to set new standards for Pakistan cricket, strengthening his legacy as one of the game’s modern greats.
