ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has moved the Supreme Court against the alleged non-compliance with its Aug. 18 order regarding the medical treatment of the party’s founder, seeking his immediate transfer to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad.

The contempt petition, filed Saturday by PTI lawyers Aziz Bhandari and Salman Akram Raja, asks the court to initiate proceedings against those allegedly responsible for violating its directive.

The plea seeks show-cause notices for the respondents and requests that they be ordered to appear before the court in their personal capacities. It also asks the court to impose penalties under the law if contempt is established.

The PTI has requested the immediate transfer of its founder to Shifa International Hospital for a medical examination. It has also proposed appointing a judicial officer or local commission to oversee implementation of the court’s order.

Speaking to reporters outside the Supreme Court, Raja said the alleged violation was evident and accused authorities of deliberately creating a false narrative about a rush surrounding the matter.

“We will not be silenced and raise our voice for justice at every level,” Raja said.

Raja said he hoped the court would decide the matter in accordance with the Constitution and the law.

The Supreme Court has already adjourned the related case until Sept. 16.
