U.S. condemns Iran’s halt in cooperation with IAEA

U.S. condemns Iran's halt in cooperation with IAEA

Washington: Iran’s decision was “unacceptable” and called for Tehran to cooperate fully without further delay, said US State Department

“We’ll use the word unacceptable, that Iran chose to suspend cooperation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), at a time when it has a window of opportunity to reverse course and choose a path of peace and prosperity,” said Tammy Bruce

On the other side, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi states that after the approval of the bill suspending the agreement by the Parliament , it has become binding on us. We are committed to this bill, and there is no doubt about its implementation.”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has approved a law to halt cooperation with  IAEA, a move which will likely obscure any attempt by Tehran to restart its damaged nuclear program.

Iran has accused the IAEA of siding with Western countries and providing a justification for Israel’s air strikes, which began a day after the U.N. agency’s board voted to declare Iran in violation of obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Pezeshkian ordered Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, the Supreme National Security Council, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to begin implementing the law, state-run news agency IRNA said.

Separately, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview on Tuesday with CBS News, opens new tab that the U.S. bombing of Iran’s key Fordow nuclear site has “seriously and heavily damaged” the facility.
