Abhay responds to Anurag, claiming he never wanted a 5-star hotel

Abhay
  • Abhay Deol has reacted to Anurag Kashyap’s allegations regarding his behavior on sets of their film Dev D (2009).
  • Abhay, who has been busy promoting his Netflix series Trial By Fire, called the filmmaker a ‘toxic person’.
  • The actor denied Anurag’s allegation that he had demanded a stay in a five-star hotel.

In response to Anurag Kashyap’s criticism of Abhay Deol’s actions during the filming of their movie Dev D (2009). Abhay spoke out against Anurag spreading false information about him in the media while promoting his Netflix series Trial By Fire. The actor refuted Anurag’s claim that he had insisted on staying in a five-star hotel room while Dev D was being filmed. Additionally, Anurag was referred to as “a liar” and “a toxic guy” by Abhay.

Anurag claimed that working with Abhay Deol on Dev D was a “painfully challenging” interview in 2020. The actor, according to Anurag, desired to work on artistic films but also desired the “popular advantages” and “luxuries of being a Deol.” Abhay is the nephew of seasoned actor Dharmendra and the cousin of stars Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. In the same interview, Anurag stated that while Dev D was “produced on a very limited budget,” Abhay would “stay in a five-star hotel while the entire crew stayed in Paharganj” during the Delhi shoot. This, according to Anurag, was the main factor in “a lot of his directors walking away” from Abhay.

Abhay now criticizes Anurag for spreading false information about him. “I had my heart on my sleeve, and all that is fine – but you get taken advantage of, and then you get reactive,” he said in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama. As a result, Anurag Kashyap taught me a valuable lesson. Because I don’t need poisonous individuals in my life, I simply avoided him after that. Life is too brief, yet there is still so much to discover. However, Anurag is unquestionably a liar and a poisonous individual. I would also alert others about him.

Abhay also said that Anurag sent him apology messages after the 2020 interview. “He (Anurag) does that all the time. He was like, ‘You want to shout at me, scream at me…’ And I was like, ‘I don’t care. It’s been 12 years. You don’t feature in my thoughts even now; get over it.’ He said, ‘Forgive me because I have had a bad day.’ I said you are forgiven. I never had a personal agenda. It was far bigger than just me. That is how I feel about everything. How much of this is he going to do? And I would have never taken his name and said the things, had he not gone public either,” Abhay said.

Last year, in an interview,Abhay had called Anurag a ‘gaslighter’. They had worked together in Dev D, which was written and directed by Anurag. After the film, the two never collaborated on a project. Dev D was a modern-day take on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s classic Bengali novel Devdas. The film also featured Kalki Koechlin, Mahie Gill and Dibyendu Bhattacharya.
