CM approves programme to rid Punjab of substandard, fake drugs

LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced to rid Punjab of fake and substandard medicines.

In the meeting of the health department, it has been decided that if the drug turns out to be fake, the relevant officer of the health department will be responsible. It has been decided to punish those who sell fake and substandard medicines with fines, imprisonment and business closure.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that conscience has to be awakened and intentions must be corrected. She said penalty and punishment must be included at all levels to fix the system.

Maryam Nawaz directed the monitoring of drug shops through modern technology and said that there should be no compromise on medicine, cleanliness, doctors, medical staff and treatment. She said people should know that there has been a change in the health and treatment system.
