With pictures of herself wearing a vibrant green saree from the line of designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, Twinkle Khanna wished her followers a “good Holi” on Instagram Today. The video montage included Twinkle displaying her luxury saree and also striking some silly poses as she replicated people’s reaction to her telling them that she gets her sarees ‘stitched’. As opposed to donning a saree the conventional way, Twinkle argued in favor of doing so and highlighted “the positives” of doing so.
In addition to how it would be simple for her daughter Nitara to wear them in the future, Twinkle claimed that wearing “sewn” sarees allows her to “do whatever” she pleases as opposed to wearing a saree in the traditional manner. Twinkle posted the video montage and said, “This is a hot topic! The confession is that I have my saris sewn, Milord.”
She kept on writing, “Let me list the benefits. 1. I don sarees more frequently. 2. My daughter can use it too once I give it to her by simply adjusting two hooks. 3. I just need two safety pins as opposed to six. 4. You don’t have to undo a single pleat; you can perform 11 jumping jacks or Jack himself. 5. It increases the workload for our talented tailor masters. If you are a stitched saree girl, raise your hand; if not, explain why. It is a discussion. Enjoy Holi and remember there is no right side!”

Several people agreed with Twinkle, while others tried to convince her. “I find it convenient to wear it in the conventional way,” one commenter on the Twinkle video said. I believe it provides us the freedom to style the pallu anyway we choose. Another person responded, “Yes, I really feel that when you sew them, the elegance of the actual saree is lost. The stitched saree falls extremely weirdly when size increases or lowers, which is the main disadvantage in my situation. Another person added, “One can ride the horses as well in the genuine saree! Simply that you must be aware of proper drapery. Yet one Instagram user seems to be intrigued by Twinkle’s hack. She said, “After I got married, I haven’t been able to wear my sarees because I can’t wear them on my own. During wedding ceremonies, I either had my mother or mother in law to drape me. Please share how the tailors do it and how to get it ironed.”
Twinkle made her acting debut in 1995 with Barsaat, and she gave up acting after the release of Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega in 2001. With Mrs Funnybones, Twinkle made her writing debut in 2015. She then followed it up with the fiction book Pyjamas Are Forgiving and the anthology of short stories The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad, both of which were published in 2017. She has two children—a son named Aarav and a daughter named Nitara—with actor Akshay Kumar, with whom she is married.
