Eva Mendes finally spoke out in response to rumours that she had permanently given up acting.
On Friday, October 7, Mendes, 48, shared a video on Instagram that featured a succession of stories from several magazines that purportedly explained why she “left acting,” which she rejected. I never resigned, she added, adding that the goal of the piece was to “change that narrative.”
“I never quit acting,” she wrote in her IG post. “I wanted to be home with my babies and fortunately my other business ventures allowed me to do that more than acting would.”
The actress also explained that she was not impressed by “stereotypical roles” that she was being offered after she worked on the movie, Lost River, in 2014.
“Also, I was not excited about the stereotypical roles being offered to me at the time. Especially after working on the film LOST RIVER -that was a dream project. That’s a tough act to follow,” continued Mendes. “Whats the point of this post? To shift that narrative. I never quit. [heart emoji]”

Mendes last appeared in the movie Lost River, which she co-starred in with her longtime love and husband, Ryan Gosling, 41. On the production of their 2011 movie The Place Beyond the Pines, the pair first got to know one another. Esmeralda Amada, age 8, and Amada Lee, age 6, are the couple’s current two daughters.
Mendes has said that she would be open to making a comeback to the big screen, but only for a particular kind of movie.
“I have such a short list of what I will do. Like before kids, I kind of was up for anything — I mean, if it was a fun project. But now I won’t do violence, I don’t want to do sexuality, I don’t want to do… the list is short.”
