JCP recommends names of six SHC judges for permanent

ISLAMABAD: Judicial Commission of Pakistan(JCP) has recommended six names of judges for permanent appointments in the Sindh High Court (SHC).

A meeting of the Judicial Commission was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, in which six additional judges were recommended to be made permanent in the Sindh High Court.

According to sources, the 6 judges unanimously recommended by the Judicial Commission to be permanent include Justice Abdul Rehman, Justice Jawad Sarwana, Justice Sana Minhas, Justice Khadim Soomro, Justice Ijaz and Justice Amjad.

Sources say that in the Judicial Commission meeting, it has also been recommended to appoint Acting Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Justice Hashim Khan Kakar as the permanent Chief Justice of Balochistan.

President approves resignation of Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi  approved the resignation of the Supreme Court Judge Justice Ijazul Ahsan.

The president approved the resignation on the advice of the prime minister in the exercise of the power under Article 179 of the Constitution.

Earlier, Second senior most judge of Supreme Court Justice Ijazul Ahsan has resigned from his post and sent his resignation to the President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi.

 

Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan was to become the Chief Justice of Pakistan after Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa. Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan was the most senior judge after Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, who would retire on March 10, 2024.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan dismissed a curative review reference against Justice Qazi Faiz Isa.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial has issued a written order in which it has been declared that there is no scope for curative in the jurisprudence of Pakistan, therefore the curative against Justice Qazi Faiz is dismissed on the basis of withdrawal.

Justice Qazi Faiz Isa is also a senior judge of the Supreme Court and a designated Chief Justice. PTI sent a reference to remove Justice Qazi Faiz as Supreme Court judge. Nominated Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa challenged the presidential reference in the open court.

The Supreme Court in a majority judgment dismissed the presidential reference. The court referred the matter to the Federal Board of Revenue(FBR) for investigation in the presidential reference case judgment.

Justice Qazi Faiz had filed a review appeal on sending the matter to FBR for investigation. Justice Qazi Faiz Isa had given arguments in a personal capacity in the revision case.
