ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi  approved the resignation of the Supreme Court Judge Justice Ijazul Ahsan.

The president approved the resignation on the advice of the prime minister in the exercise of the power under Article 179 of the Constitution.

Earlier, Second senior most judge of Supreme Court Justice Ijazul Ahsan has resigned from his post and sent his resignation to the President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi.

Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan was to become the Chief Justice of Pakistan after Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa. Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan was the most senior judge after Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, who would retire on March 10, 2024.

After Qazi Faiz Isa, Justice Ejazul Hasan was to become the Chief Justice. After the resignation of Justice Ejazul Hasan, now Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will become the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
