FBR warns for large-scale action against non-filers from Nov 1

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Rashid Mahmood Langrial has warned that action against non-filers will start from November 1.

Talking to the media in Islamabad, Rashid Langrial said that the number of income tax returns has exceeded 4 million and the number of income tax returns has doubled since last year.

He said that the last date for submission of income tax returns will not be extended.

Chairman FBR warned that large-scale action against non-filers will begin from November, with complete data of non-filers.

He said that the Prime Minister’s directive is not to spare the tax evader.

Note that the last date for submission of income tax returns is October 14.

FBR blocks 210,000 mobile SIMs of non-filers

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has successfully blocked 210,000 mobile SIMs of non-filers and continues to block SIMs of non-filers.

The FBR blocked 210,000 mobile SIMs of non-filers while 61,996 SIMs have been restored on submission of tax returns.

Sources said that the data of 5000 mobile SIMs was being sent to the telecom companies on a daily basis. A total of 506,671 non-files will be blocked.

It should be remembered that the FBR had issued an Income Tax General Order to block the mobile SIMs of more than 606,000 people in the past few days.

According to FBR, the income of these persons is eligible to file income tax returns, but these persons are not filing despite being able to file income tax returns, these persons are not included in FBR active tax payer list, so they file income tax returns.

The mobile phone connections of non-users can be suspended at any time.

Senate approves travel ban for non-filers

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Finance approved the proposal to ban non-filers from traveling abroad.

The meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Finance was chaired by Chairman Saleem Mandviwala. The committee approved the proposal to ban foreign travel of non-filers.

Chairman FBR said that action will be taken against those who do not file tax return under Income Tax General Order. Hajj, Umrah, young children, students and overseas Pakistanis holding the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP)with will be exempted.

According to Chairman FBR, non-filer mobile SIM, electricity and gas connections will also be disconnected.

Farooq H. Naik said that the ban on non-filer’s travel abroad should be considered as being in the exit control list.

Chairman FBR said that the rate of withholding tax on non-filers is also high, the mobile SIM and business of non-filers can also be closed, in the list of 500,000 non-filers, there are people with annual income of more than two million.
