Lahore CCPO summoned by LHC over blaming remarks on Motorway rape incident

Lahore CCPO apologized to victim

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned Lahore CCPO Umer Sheikh over inappropriate remarks blaming the victim for the recent Motorway gang rape incident.

The LHC has summoned Lahore CCPO to explain his position on the matter.

A bench of the high court headed by Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan was hearing a writ petition seeking the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the incident. He directed the Lahore police chief to appear in personal capacity in short a while.

Over the course of the hearing, the chief justice remarked that the entire provincial cabinet should have tendered an apology over the CCOP’s statement. “What investigation is this? The CCPO is putting the blame on the rape victim.”

Motorway rape incident: Co-accused Waqar-ul-Hassan will be presented before court today

Motorway Rape Incident suspect surrenders

Alleged co-accused of the recent Lahore Motorway rape incident, Waqar-ul-Hassan is likely to be presented before the local court today (Monday).

Yesterday, one of the two suspects of the motorway rape incident, Waqar ul Hassan, has surrendered before CIA police station in Lahore‘s Model Town.

According to the details, the investigation team has sent sample of Waqar to the laboratory for DNA test. Sources told that identification parade will also be held to recognize the suspect.
