Mahmood Achakzai’s  arrest warrant suspended

QUETTA: A judicial magistrate of Quetta has been suspended arrest warrant of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

Earlier, Judicial Magistrate had issued an arrest warrant for Mahmood Khan Achakzai, chairman of PkMAP.

Today, the investigating officer(IO) informed the court that there has been a non-compliance of the warrant by the head of the PkMAP.

The Judicial Magistrate suspended the arrest warrant of Mehmood Khan Achakzai until the next hearing and fixed the hearing of the case on May 31.

It may be remembered that the district administration registered a case against Mahmood Achakzai on March 11 for deter public servant from discharge of duty.

Court issues arrest warrant of Mahmood Khan Achakzai

QUETTA: A judicial magistrate of Quetta has issued an arrest warrant for Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

Judicial Magistrate Quetta has issued the arrest warrant of Mahmood Khan Achakzai, his warrant has been issued with reference to the FIR registered in Gwalmandi police station.

During the raid on the house of Mehmood Khan Achakzai, a case of interference was registered in the government, the Judicial Magistrate issued warrants for not appearing in connection with the FIR.

The magistrate ordered the police to arrest Mahmood Khan Achakzai and produce him on April 27.

The development comes a day after he chaired a meeting of the newly formed alliance of opposition parties—Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aain in Islamabad.

The alliance comprises six opposition parties including PTI, JI, SIC, MWM, PkMAP and the BNP-M.

Achakzai demands withdrawal of cases against PTI founder

QUETTA: Pashtunkhawa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) chief and member of the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai on Saturday demanded withdrawal of cases against PTI founder Imran Khan and other members of his party immediately.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai while addressing the first public gathering of opposition alliance in Pishin said that this alliance is not for overthrowing the government but for the supremacy of the constitution. He appealed to all Pakistanis who believe in the supremacy of the constitution should join the movement.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai said here no one is slave or master of anyone, but we are all equal, we have to bring revolution with the power of the people.

Addressing the rally, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat said that Imran Khan has been in jail for 8 months. He said character assassination of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have were done while PTI workers and leaders were also beaten up.

Polling for election of president begins

ISLAMABAD: Voting to elect the President of Pakistan started on Saturday in the Parliament House. The voting process will continue until 4:00 pm in the afternoon without any break.

Members of the National Assembly (NA) and the Senate are casting their votes. The Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court is acting as the presiding officer.

A joint candidate of the PPP and PML-N, Asif Ali Zardari, and Sunni Ittehad Council’s candidate, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, are in the running for the office of president.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur and Speaker Babar Salim Swati polled their votes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly for presidential election. So far 41 members polled their votes.

Minister Arshad Ayub cast the first vote. Polling station has been set up for the presidential election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly under the supervision of Chief Justice Peshawar High Court Ibrahim Khan. Members of the Provincial Assembly will be able to cast their votes from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

109 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly will participate in the presidential election. 9 members of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam will not participate in the voting after announcing the boycott of the elections.

There is contest between Asif Ali Zardari, the candidate of the federal coalition government, and Mehmood Khan Achakzai of the Sunni Union Council. Parliamentary Leader of PPP Ahmad Karim Kundi is the polling agent of Asif Ali Zardari, while Minister Mina Khan is the polling agent of Mehmood Khan Achakzai. 91 members of Sunni Ittehad Council would vote in favor of Mehmood Khan Achakzai.

Mahmood Achakzai demands ECP to postpone presidential election

ISLAMABAD: Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the candidate of the Sunni Ittehad Council(SIC) in the presidential election, demanded the postponement of the presidential election.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai, head of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, has also written a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding the postponement of the presidential election.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai has said in his letter that many reserved seats of national and provincial assemblies are still vacant and the election should be postponed until the Electoral College is completed.

It should be remembered that the Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP) announced the presidential election on March 9, for which the nomination papers of Asif Ali Zardari of the Pakistan People’s Party and Mahmood Khan Achakzai of the Sunni Ittehad Council have been approved.

The statement of Maulana Fazal ur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI), also surfaced in this regard, in which he said that he wishes to vote for Mahmood Khan Achakzai in the presidential election, but the party’s decision is obligatory that he does not vote.

On the other hand, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan has decided to vote for Pakistan People’s Party candidate Asif Ali Zardari in the presidential election.
