Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos recognizes MrBeast’s $1 billion joke

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos recognizes MrBeast's $1 billion joke

Although Bezos has not yet handed MrBeast a billion dollars, his act of following MrBeast on Twitter shows that he is interested.

This gesture demonstrates that the wealthy magnate not only recognizes but also acknowledges the YouTube content creator’s request for money.

MrBeast casually tweeted on July 1 that it appeared to be a “great day” for Jeff Bezos to gift him a billion bucks, all in good fun. MrBeast’s comment does not appear to be motivated by anything specific, given he is already financially prosperous through his YouTube channel, fast food ventures, and charity initiatives.

Notably, the popular YouTuber made this request in the midst of a major Twitter issue, with Elon Musk restricting access to his tweets, which may be related in some manner.

Bezos did not immediately follow MrBeast once he made the request. MrBeast didn’t release a screenshot proving that Bezos was now following his Twitter account until July 3.

The “Follows You” label was displayed next to Jeff Bezos’ official account in the screenshot. As of yet, the Amazon founder hasn’t said anything, leaving the situation with little information.

However, it’s worth noting that Bezos only follows 241 accounts, implying that this was a deliberate action rather than a mistake.

While it’s noteworthy that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos chose to follow MrBeast on Twitter, MrBeast hasn’t provided any additional updates on the subject. His lone post since the development was a simple comment reading, “He just followed me,” accompanied by a pair of eyes emojis. If Bezos has privately messaged MrBeast, signaling that the billion bucks is on the way, Jimmy has yet to publicly acknowledge it.

Few people believe Jeff Bezos will give MrBeast a billion bucks. However, considering MrBeast’s enormous popularity, Bezos or Amazon may embrace the opportunity to generate favorable publicity. Given his expertise in viral marketing, it’s not out of the question that MrBeast produced the first Twitter tweet with this component of viral marketing in mind.

Although it’s unclear whether Bezos would be willing to pay a billion dollars to a YouTube personality, his financial resources are undeniably vast.

Bezos’ personal fortune is currently believed to be more than $150 billion, a number that might have a significant impact on even someone as financially secure as MrBeast.

Rocket from Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin blows up during live stream

Rocket from Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin
  • A rocket from Jeff Bezos’ space company Blue Origin failed mid-flight shortly after liftoff.
  • The rocket’s cargo capsule parachuted to safety before falling into the Texas desert.
  • It was the first New Shepard launch with no humans aboard in more than a year.

According to the company and a live video feed of the mission, a rocket from Jeff Bezos’ space company Blue Origin failed mid-flight shortly after liftoff on Monday, aborting its cargo capsule to safety before falling into the Texas desert.

As the 23rd New Shepard mission for Blue Origin, the rocket blasted off from the company’s West Texas launch facility on Monday morning.

The mission’s objective was to carry NASA-funded experiments and other payloads to the edge of space so they could float for a few minutes in microgravity.

However, less than a minute after liftoff, at a height of around 8.05.km (5.05 miles), the New Shepard booster’s engines flared abruptly.

Virtually instantaneous activation of the capsule’s abort motor system propelled the craft away from the malfunctioning rocket before it parachuted back to land unharmed.

The US Federal Aviation Administration, which is in charge of ensuring the safety of launch sites, claims that the booster crashed within a defined hazard region.

Until the FAA approves the findings of a company-led inquiry into the incident, Blue Origin’s fleet of New Shepard rockets is grounded, the agency added.

Following the disaster, Blue Origin tweeted, “During today’s flight, the capsule escape system successfully separated the capsule from the booster.”

“The booster impacted the ground. There are no reported injuries; all personnel have been accounted for.”

The NS-23 mission, the fourth of 2022, was the first New Shepard launch with no humans aboard in more than a year.

Blue Origin uses the rocket-capsule technology to transport paying customers into suborbital space for a brief period of time in microgravity before their capsule descends to land using a parachute.

To date, 31 individuals have been transported in this manner.

Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos, a billionaire who founded Blue Origin in 2000, was one among the first people to board New Shepard on its initial crewed trip in 2021.

It was unclear right away whether the eight previous flights of the rocket that crashed on Monday involved any human beings.

Prior to its first crewed flight, Blue Origin completed 15 flights of New Shepard.

Jeff Bezos slams Biden appeal for lower gasoline prices

Jeff Bezos
  • Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos criticizes President Joe Biden for urging oil companies to reduce gasoline prices.
  • Gasoline prices at the pump are sapping Biden’s approval rating ahead of legislative elections in November.
  • The White House defends the US leader, calling his remarks “misdirection”.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has chastised President Joe Biden for urging oil companies to reduce sky-high gasoline prices, prompting the White House to defend the US leader on Sunday.

“My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril,” Biden tweeted Saturday.

“Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now,” Biden added.

Bezos said Biden’s remarks amounted to “either straight ahead misdirection or a deep misunderstanding of basic market dynamics.”

“Ouch. Inflation is far too important a problem for the White House to keep making statements like this,” the US billionaire tweeted Saturday.

Gasoline prices at the pump have become a symbol of broader price rises in the United States, and they are sapping Biden’s approval rating ahead of legislative elections in November.

Biden has regularly attacked oil companies, saying they only care about profits and not the well-being of the average consumer.

The companies say in turn they have increased production to try to tame prices but that these are set on the world market and are subject to dynamics that are not under the control of US oil giants.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Twitter Sunday that oil prices have dropped about $15 a barrel over the past month.

“But prices at the pump have barely come down. That’s not ‘basic market dynamics.’ It’s a market that is failing the American consumer,” she wrote.

Gasoline prices have been above $5 a gallon since early June, which is unprecedented in the car-crazy nation. Prices have fallen slightly since, but remain far from the $3 a gallon level of a year ago.

John Kirby, White House spokesman on national security issues, also defended the president Sunday in an appearance on the renowned channel.

“The president is working very, very hard across many fronts… to try to bring that price down,” Kirby said.

He cited Biden’s proposal to suspend the federal gas tax this summer (which would require congressional approval) and his decision to draw on the United States’ strategic oil reserves to put more product on the market.

“He knows that it is not going to solve all the problems, but it will help if everybody cooperates on this. We could bring the price down at least by about one dollar a gallon,” Kirby said.
