Pakistan rejects Iranian media claim about arrest of Akram Lahori

ISLAMABAD: Iranian social media and official news agency have been once again found involved in spreading fake news regarding the arrest of Muhammad Ajmal alias Akram Lahori in Iran.

Iranian official news agency Islamic Republic News Agency(IRNA)  has claimed the arrest of Muhammad Ajmal aka Akram Lahori in Iran.

However,  Akram Lahori was sentenced to death in the famous poet Mohsin Naqvi’s murder case. The convicted killer is still in Hyderabad Jail in Sindh province.

Akram Lahori, a resident of Mirpurkhas, Sindh province has been jailed for multiple counts of sectarian target killings and is the founder of the sectarian militant outfit Laskar e Jhangiv along with Riaz Basra.

The Pakistani authorities have also released the latest photo of Muhammad Ajmal aka Akram Lahori from Hyderabad Jail and also shared it with Iranian officials.

Tehran: Drones strike an Iranian military facility

  • State news agency IRNA later said the explosion had been caused by “small drones”.

Tehran said on Sunday that drones struck a military facility in Isfahan, the country’s capital.

According to Mohammad Reza Jan-Nesari, the deputy head of security for the Isfahan Governorate, an explosion has taken place in one of the military facilities connected to the Ministry of Defense.

The explosion, according to Jan-Nesari, “but happily there were no victims,” left minor damage.

Later, the state news agency IRNA claimed that “small drones” were to blame for the incident.

According to IRNA, who cited the nation’s military ministry, “There was an unsuccessful attempt by tiny drones against a defense ministry industrial complex and thankfully with predictions and air defense arrangements already in place, one of them (hit).”

Two more drones were eliminated by the complex’s air defense system. Fortunately, no one was killed in this failed attack, but the complex’s roof did receive some minor damage.

According to the ministry, the attack happened about 10:30 p.m. local time.

About 440 kilometers (270 miles) south of Tehran is where the plant is.
