FM Qureshi, Saudi Counterpart Discuss enhanced bilateral cooperation in various fields

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi discusses matters related to mutual interest with the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

In his Tweet, FM Qureshi said, “Good to speak to HH Foreign Minister @FaisalbinFarhan and connect on matters of mutual interest. Pakistan lauds the Kingdom’s #SaudiGreenInitiative and #MiddleEastGreenInitiative focussing on tackling climate change, a global issue of key priority for our PM and Pakistan.”

He further added that Pakistan has lauded the government’s “Saudi Green Initiative“, announced by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to tackle climate change. 

Earlier in the day, Mohammad Bin Salman has announced two major steps to tackle climate change. The two initiatives will strongly contribute to achieving the global objectives, the Crown Prince said.

In his statement, the Crown Prince said, “Saudi Arabia and the region are facing many environmental challenges, such as desertification, which threaten the regional economy.”

He further said, “Green Saudi Arabia and Green Middle East initiatives aim to clarify a clear roadmap that will keep the planet safe, and protect it from adverse effects on the environment.”

Mohammad bin Salman said that Saudi Arabia is a big oil-producing country and it will also fulfill its responsibility for the environmental change.

“The kingdom is going to become a world leader in making the world green,” he added.

“We are also fully aware of our responsibility to provide clean climate resources, for which we will take all possible steps. Despite this, we are also facing many challenges due to climate change,” added the Crown prince.

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia reaffirm longstanding, time-tested ties

Prime Minister Imran Khan has on Tuesday (today) held a telephonic conversation with Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage. 

During the phone call, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have expressed the commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister assured support and cooperation for the Foundation in pursuit of its noble mission.

He also conveyed warm sentiments for the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman and the fraternal Saudi people.

Prince Salman conveyed condolences over the sad demise Late Chairman of Sultana Foundation Naeem Ghani.

The Prime Minister and His Royal Highness also reaffirmed longstanding, and time-tested ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and the shared commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

Moreover, PM Imran praised the Foundation’s philanthropic ideology which is aimed at socio-economic welfare of the vulnerable segments of the society.

He, however, also lauded his selfless devotion to the foundation.
