Nawaz Sharif elected PML-N president unopposed

Lahore: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been elected unopposed as the President of Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) again after 6 years.

After the resignation of the former president of the PML-N, Shehbaz Sharif. The election was held to elect a new president, in which 8 nomination papers of Nawaz Sharif were submitted for the post of party president. The separate nomination papers were also submitted from the four provinces of Nawaz Sharif.

Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers were also submitted from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad. PML-N President Sindh Bashir Memon, Amir Mukkam from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sardar Yaqub from Balochistan submitted Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers.

The time for submission of nomination papers for the party president candidate was from 10 am to 12 pm, the submitted nomination papers were scrutinized till 2 am.

Party Chief Election Commissioner Rana Sanaullah summoned the recommenders and endorsers and examined the papers of Nawaz Sharif.

Later, the papers for Nawaz Sharif’s party president were approved and he was elected as the president of the PML-N unopposed.

The general council meeting of PML-N) will be held after some time in a private hotel in Lahore, in which the election of Nawaz Sharif as the president will be announced as a result of the inter-party election.

Former federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq will be elected as the general secretary of the party in the general council meeting.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) provide a level playing field to all political parties in Sindh in the upcoming general elections in 2024.

PML-N Sindh President Bashir Memon along with the delegation met the Chief Election Commissioner.

The Muslim League-N Sindh submitted an application to the Chief Election Commission, in which it has been said that most of the administrative setup of the caretaker government of Sindh is of the People’s Party era, the leaders and ministers of the People’s Party have control over important departments and districts.

It is said in the application that corruption is continuing in the system, departments like health, education, excise, local government, and finance in Sindh are being run under the direction of former ministers. Secretary Services Ghulam Ali is controlling the transfer posting on the instructions of the leaders of the People’s Party.

The local government in Sindh is fully operational and the local government is getting a budget from the caretaker government which is being used to influence the election process. The election campaign of the People’s Party, including rallies and rallies, is being carried out by the local government.

PML-N has demanded that the Election Commission intervene and conduct an investigation so that everyone in Sindh gets equal opportunities. The investigation should not include the officers or members of the Provincial Election Commission of Sindh because they also have close ties with the previous Sindh government.
