Cannabis is prohibited in Amsterdam’s red-light district

Amsterdam
  • The measures, which will go into effect in the middle of May, are intended to improve the quality of life for locals.
  • Alcohol cannot be purchased from businesses, bars, or cafes in the red light area.
  • In most public areas in Amsterdam, alcohol consumption is prohibited.

According to new rules released by the city, smoking marijuana on the street in Amsterdam’s red light district will soon be prohibited.

The measures, which will go into effect in the middle of May, are intended to improve the quality of life for locals who have long complained about the disturbance that tourists bring.

According to local media, almost all council members favoured taking steps to lessen annoyance for homeowners.

The municipal council also declared on Thursday that no new visitors would be let into the old city district after 1am and that eateries and bars would have to close by 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.

As of right now, alcohol cannot be purchased from businesses, bars, or cafes in the red light area after 4 p.m. on Thursday through Sunday. The council will now request that retailers either conceal or remove all alcohol from their storefronts during that period.

In most public areas in Amsterdam, alcohol consumption is prohibited.

Hear the grim truth about Amsterdam’s red light area.

The city of the Netherlands is well renowned for its cannabis cafes, which draw millions of visitors each year. However, people have complained that the presence of street vendors and the prevalence of drug and alcohol misuse is increasing crime.

Possessing, producing, or selling narcotics is a crime in the Netherlands as of right now. However, it is not a crime for someone above the age of 18 to consume narcotics.

Drug sales and possession are prohibited, although the Netherlands maintains a “tolerance policy” that permits the sale of cannabis at coffee shops under certain restrictions. The shops must not create a nuisance as one of those requirements.

The Amsterdam council will begin a “stay away” campaign in the spring in addition to the new legislation to target visitors coming to the city for sex, drugs, or booze.

“Of all the things we’ve done together, this is the most we’ve gone into how do you deal with life and how do you face your own issues. There were these men in the diner, veterans because this was not far from the VA. They have trauma, but the five of them were there every day, just eating breakfast,” told Russell.

Bale went through several bodily modifications while conceptualising for this film. He ordered in accordance with what was expected of him.

“I varied from having a lot of coffee to having like 16 eggs and three bowls of rice. We did take pictures of me and Dave during the course of breakfast together and I got to tell you, whoa baby,” added Bale.

Brendan Greene, the creator of PUBG, has left Krafton to start his own firm

Brendan Greene

The inventor of a popular game PUBG, Brendan Greene, decided to be independent. Krafton, the owner of PUBG, has split out his PlayerUnknown Productions studio, which will have a minority share in the corporation.

Greene stated, “I’m so very grateful to everyone at PUBG and Krafton for taking a chance on me and for the opportunities they afforded me over the past four years,”

He further added, “Today, I’m excited to take the next step on my journey to create the kind of experience I’ve envisaged for years. Again, I’m thankful for everyone at Krafton for supporting my plans, and I’ll have more to reveal more about our project at a later date.”

Greene left the essential PUBG team in 2019 and moved from Seoul (where Krafton is based) to Amsterdam to lead the PUBG Special Projects division.

PlayerUnknown Productions is “exploring the systems needed to enable massive scale within open-world games,” as per a press release. Prologue, for which Greene released an atmospheric teaser in late 2019, is the only game listed on the studio’s website, so it appears he’s taken that game with him.

Greene’s resignation from Krafton is important, as he is widely regarded as the creator of the battle royale genre, which has dominated the gaming industry in recent years. Greene rose to popularity before PUBG as a creator of ARMA 2 and H1Z1 battle royale mods.
