LAHORE: The capital city has been declared the most polluted city in the world, with an alarming Air Quality Index (AQI) of 710 on Friday.
The air quality index was recorded at 710 in Lahore in the morning hours due to bad air quality.
Among the pollution-hit cities of Punjab, Rahim Yar Khan recorded particulate matter at 826, while Multan recorded 710.
On the other hand, due to heavy fog in Lahore, the visibility in the airport, cantt and surrounding areas has become zero, while the motorway M2 from Islamabad to Lahore, M3 from Lahore to Darkhana and M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Multan, M5 from Multan to Jalalpur, M11 Lahore to Kamoke and Lahore Sialkot Motorways were completely closed.
Apart from this, rain is expected in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper districts of Punjab from today to November 16, which is showing the possibility of reduction in smog
