KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) issued notices to the parties including Provincial Election Commission and others as parties for January 10 on the request for urgent hearing of various petitions of Muttahida Qaumi Movement(MQM).
Justice Iqbal Kalhoro, while hearing the various petitions of MQM against the delimitation of various districts of Karachi in the SHC, said that the decision of the Supreme Court has come regarding the delimitation.
The lawyer MQM stated that this issue is related to the demarcation of towns, therefore the Election Commission is not a party. The present petitions are against the decision of the Delimitation Appellate Authority on behalf of the voters. The restrictions have been imposed by the Sindh government.
The Additional Advocate General argued that such petitions have been rejected earlier, and the Supreme Court also rejected the appeal.
The lawyer on behalf of MQM said that these requests are different, the municipal election is on 15th January and the request for an urgent hearing should be approved. On which the court issued a notice to the parties for January 10 on the request for an urgent hearing, the ECP and other parties.
The court instructed the parties to prepare for arguments.
The MQM petitioned parties and stated that the formation of UCs and towns in District West is wrong and malicious.
Counsel of MQM submitted that the constituencies in Orangi Town, Mominabad, Baldia, North Nazimabad, and ShahFaisal Colony are very wrong. Even if the appellate authority did not listen to the party’s position, it is an unfair process.
