Pakistani medical team departs for Turkiye

ISLAMABAD: A 10-member medical team from Pakistan departed for earthquake-hit Turkiye to take part in a relief operation.

Spokesperson Federal Health Minister said, a ten-member medical team from the Pakistan Institute Of Medical Sciences(PIMS) along with the medicines left for Turkiye, while a separate 10-member doctors team will leave for Syria today’s evening.

Federal Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel said Turkiye has always helped Pakistan and Islamabad will also not leave Turkiye in this testing time and will provide every possible support.

On other hand, Pakistan dispatched about 200.7 tons of relief assistance including 18 tons of winterized tents to the quake-affected people of Turkiye.

The request for tents was made by the Turkish government to save hundreds of thousands of the quake-affected people who were bracing for the severe cold.

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet has approved fixing the prices of 54 new medicines, including reducing the prices of 20 medicines.

The federal cabinet meeting was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which Federal Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel gave a briefing on the prices of medicines.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Health recommended a reduction in the prices of 20 medicines in the cabinet, in the summary of which a 30 percent reduction in the prices of most medicines was recommended.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that for the welfare of the people, an uninterrupted supply of quality medicines should be ensured and the prices of essential medicines should be further reduced and measures should be taken for public relief.

Later, the federal cabinet approved the reduction in the prices of 20 medicines under which the prices of medicines used in blood pressure, cancer, and eye diseases will be decreased.

Apart from this, it has also been approved to fix the prices of 54 new medicines and these new medicines will be used in cancer and various diseases.
