Anurag describes how his ex-wife kicked him out of the house

Anurag
  • Anurag Kashyap used to be a heavy drinker.
  • His ex-wife kicked him out of their house when their daughter was young.
  • He said he was depressed and struggled with his career, which caused him to depend on alcohol for comfort.

Anurag Kashyap, a filmmaker, has discussed his past as a frequent drinker. When their daughter Aaliyah was about four years old, he said that things had gotten so bad that his ex-wife Aarti Bajaj had once ejected him from their home. Anurag said that his dependence on alcohol resulted from his depression and career struggles.

Up until the release of Paanch, Anurag Kashyap worked as a scriptwriter in the movie industry. Censorship concerns prevented the movie from ever being released. Later, he was the director of Black Friday (2004), which was adapted from Hussain Zaidi’s book of the same name on the 1993 Bombay bombings. The District Board of Film Certification delayed the movie’s distribution until 2007 because of a case. It was followed by No Smoking (2007), which received unfavorable reviews and bombed at the movie office, and it was well received by critics.

After Dev.2009 D’s financial and critical success, Anurag became well-known. Anurag recently reflected on his unsuccessful film career and remembered the moment when he turned to drink as a coping mechanism. “I locked myself in a room, and that’s when the drinking started,” he told Mashable India. It had ended. For a year and a half, I used to drink a lot. I was expelled from the house by Aarti. Aaliya, my daughter, was just four years old at the time. It was a challenging time there. I was feeling down.

I was fired from Tere Naam (2003) and Kaante, Paanch had stalled, Black Friday had stalled, Allwyn Kalicharan was shelved, another project that no one knew about had also been delayed (2002). I was drinking when I was engaged in these conflicts. Projects that I contributed to and had written were abruptly dropped from. That was a very awful time, and it eventually turned into resentment at the business community and the system, he continued.

Dobaaraa, starring Taapsee Pannu, was Anurag’s most recent film. His upcoming project, Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat and Alaya Fand Karan Mehta in the major parts, is currently being prepared for release. Vicky Kaushal makes a spectacular cameo appearance as well. This year’s February 3 theater opening is set for the movie.
