‘You can’t keep hungry people under a lockdown’: PM Imran says during live call today

PM launches uniform curriculum to end class-based system in education sector

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan is talking with the general public and directly responding to their questions on live calls here on Sunday.

He expressed his views on the issue while conversing with the people of Pakistan in a live question-and-answer session via telephone.

Before taking live calls on the TV program “Aapka Wazir-e-Azam Aap Ke Saath“, PM Imran requested the common people to strictly observe COVID SOPs, especially wearing face masks, to prevent the spread of the fourth wave of Coronavirus.

He said that the 4th wave contains the Indian variant of COVID-19 pandemic is very lethal as it spreads at a fast pace.

He also spoke about how imposing a complete lockdown in the country is not the solution, “We had a small problem between the federal government and Sindh,” the PM admitted.

“But on the other hand, the thing to see is that will we be able to save the economy from the lockdown? Then there is the issue of hunger … the daily wage earners and especially the poor section of our society … how will they make ends meet during the lockdown?”

Imran Khan during the calls also cited the example of “destruction in India” to tell the Sindh government “never to impose a lockdown until you have the answers to these questions.”

“Their (Indian) government imposed a lockdown at once without thinking anything of the public. They only thought of the upper class and elite like us,” Imran said.

“Sindh government should know that when you force a lockdown you are going to keep people hungry. You cannot keep hungry people under a lockdown if you do not have the resources to bring them food.” he further said

“Therefore, smart lockdown is the most viable solution,” he said. “We cannot destroy our economy by imposing a full lockdown.”

The people can participate in the program on landline no: 051-9224900.
