Saudi Arabia to reopen Quba Mosque from June 20

In Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Invitation, and Guidance has issued a directive to open the Quba Mosque 24 hours a day from June 20.

According to details, a statement issued by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance said that pilgrims and worshipers can now go to the mosque for worship and pilgrimage at any time, but precautions must be taken to prevent corona.

KARACHI: Saudi Arabia’s air defences intercepted and destroyed a bomb-laden drone launched by Houthi militia towards the southwestern city of Khamis Mushait, spokesman for the Arab Coalition Brigadier-General Turki Al-Maliki said.

He said that the Saudi air defence forces destroyed the explosive-laden drone before it could reach the target.

“We are taking operational measures to protect civilians and civilian objects from hostile attacks,” Turki Al-Maliki said in a statement.

The coalition said it thwarted all hostile Houthi attempts at targeting civilians and civilian objects.

Noorul Haq Qadri, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs on Sunday clarified that the Saudi government had not yet decided regarding the number of pilgrims being allowed to perform Hajj this year.

After speaking with Saudi Hajj and Umran minister, Qadri shared a video on the micro-blogging site Twitter and said,

“The Saudi health ministry has made recommendations about the number of Hajj pilgrims and Covid-19 SOPs, but a final decision has yet to taken.”

The Religious Affairs Minister went on to clarify that the Saudi government will take Pakistan into confidence regarding the number of pilgrims, Covid SOPs, and vaccination.

It should be mentioned here that earlier Saudi Arabia had allowed 60,000 pilgrims from all over the world, including Pakistan, to perform Hajj this year.

The Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Religious Harmony and the Middle East, Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, also confirmed the Saudi decision, saying that the Saudi government has approved the arrival of pilgrims from around the world.

He said that Pakistan would be informed later about how many pilgrims would be able to go to Saudi Arabia from Pakistan.

Allama Tahir Ashrafi said that people below the age of 18 and over 60 will not be able to go for Hajj while the pilgrims will have to be quarantined in Saudi Arabia for 3 days with corona vaccination.

Iran confirmed for the first time that talks with Saudi Arabia had taken place in early April, saying it was too early to say whether the talks would succeed or not.

“De-escalation of tensions between the two Muslim countries in the Persian Gulf region is in the interest of both nations and the region,” Saeed Khatibzadeh, the foreign ministry spokesman said in a televised weekly news conference.

He further said, “We welcome resolving of the issues that have existed between the two countries … We will use our best efforts in this regard.”

The head of policy planning at Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry, Ambassador Rayed Krimly, said that talks between Saudi Arabia and Iran were aimed at reducing regional tensions. He said it was too early to judge the outcome and Riyadh wanted to see “verifiable deeds”.
