Joe Biden’s inauguration rehearsal postponed due to security concerns

A rehearsal for US President-elect Joe Biden‘s inauguration has been postponed due to security concerns. It was scheduled to take place on Sunday.

According to the report, the rehearsal is not scheduled for Monday.

Moreover, Biden’s team had also canceled the Amtrak trip from Wilmington to Washington because of the heightened security concerns. The trip was planned for Monday. Biden will be inaugurated on January 20 (Wednesday).

The presidential inaugural committee has declined to comment on the report.

According to the details, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray had said earlier that FBI was looking into people who possibly could threaten the safety of the inaugurations.

Biden has asked Lisa Monaco, his nominee for deputy attorney general and former President Barack Obama’s counter-terrorism adviser, to serve as a homeland security adviser on a temporary basis for the inauguration.

Officials have warned of plans for armed protests in Washington after Trump’s supporters stormed the US Capitol leaving five dead.

PayPal Blocks Site That Helped Raise Funds For Capitol Riots

PayPal Holding has blocked GiveSendGo, a crowdfunding site after it helped raise funds for people who attended the horrific event that happened when Trump’s supporters clashed against the police at the Capitol.

PayPal also said that it has also closed the account of Ali Alexander, one of the organizers of the gathering.

Online platforms and social media companies are taking action against those who encouraged or were involved in last week’s violence in the U.S. Capitol.

As per Twitter, the micro-blogging since Friday has suspended more than 70,000 accounts that were initially made to share QAnon content after the assault on the Capitol building.

US Capitol Hill in Washington, witnessed unprecedented scenes as violent clashes broke out between supporters of sitting President Donald Trump and the police.

The protesters tore down metal barricades at the bottom of the Capitol’s steps and were met by officers in riot gear.

The violence also included the fatal shooting of a woman.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had formally conceded defeat to his political rival, Joe Biden, in the presidential election.

According to the details, Donald Trump admitted his defeat in the November 3 presidential election for the first time.

The “formal transfer” was announced by Congress on January 20, after the vote count ended, confirming the victory of President-elect Joe Biden.

It is believed that Donald Trump’s statement of defeat came at a time when a crowd of his supporters stormed the Capitol Hill building and witnessed unprecedented scenes of destruction.

Meanwhile, members of Congress were forced to go into hiding, offices were vandalized and Congress affairs were suspended for six hours.

“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th. I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!” Donald Trump said in a statement posted on Twitter via his social media director.

President-elect Joe Biden‘s statement reads,

“At this hour our democracy is under unprecedented assault. Unlike anything we’ve seen in modern times…..Let me be very clear. The scenes of chaos at the Capitol do not reflect a true America. Do not reflect who we are. What we’re seeing are a small number of extremists dedicated to lawlessness. This is not dissent. It’s disorder. It’s chaos. It borders on sedition. And it must end.”

It is pertinent to mention here that disgraceful scenes were witnessed inside at US Capitol Hill in Washington, as violent clashes broke out between supporters of sitting President Donald Trump and the police.

To what observers described as an attack striking at the very heart of American democracy, the protesters tore down metal barricades at the bottom of the Capitol’s steps and were met by officers in riot gear.

Some tried to push past the police officials, who held shields, and the police could be seen firing pepper spray into the crowd to keep them back, even as the crowd shouted, “traitors”.

The violence soon moved inside the Capitol Hill building, with reports of firing at the premises. The violence also included the fatal shooting of a woman

The attack forced Congress to postpone a session that would have certified President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
