Shoaib Akhtar Wants IPL, PSL To Be Postponed Due To COVID-19

Shoaib Akhtar: ‘Misbah-ul-Haq & Waqar Younis exposed themselves’

Former Pakistan bowler Shoaib Akhtar has appealed to cricket boards of Pakistan and India to postpone the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to increasing cases of coronavirus in the region.

The Rawalpindi Express took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote,

“BCCI & PCB should both rethink if this is a good time to continue the IPL or restart the PSL. Things are tough.” He also added the snippet of his vlog in the tweet.

In his vlog, Akhtar said that India should immediately put a stop on IPL as the country is in the most horrific situation due to COVID-19.

“India is burning IPL must stop.” He added, “I also want PSL to not happen this year in June. If a pandemic is spreading then PSL should not happen in June.”

Former Pakistani pacer said that IPL is not important, however, the money being used on it should be provided to the needy people of India so oxygen tanks can be brought to save people’s lives.

“We do not want cricket, we do not want heroes, we do not want entertainment at this time. We right now want people to be saved in India and Pakistan,” appealed Akhtar.

He added that the IPL was not important and the money being used on it should be given to people so oxygen tanks can be brought and people can be saved from dying.

“We do not want cricket, we do not want heroes, we do not want entertainment at this time. We right now want people to be saved in India and Pakistan,” appealed the former fast bowler who had played for the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders.

On the other hand, Shoaib appealed to the government of Pakistan to impose a curfew in Pakistan.

“I strongly appeal to the government to impose a curfew and not a lockdown as we do not follow SOPs. I want the army to come and make people follow the SOP’s strictly.”

Moreover, Akhtar expressed his concerns for India and suggested Muslims send their Zakat to the country in the holy month of Ramadan.

How do we send money to India? I cannot understand how we send money to India,” said Akhtar.

The former pacer requested everyone to help people at any cost during the difficult times.

“This is not a problem of Hindu and Muslim, Christian and Sikh. It’s all our problem,” said Rawalpindi express.

PSL 2021: Here Is The Expected Schedule For Remaining PSL 6 Matches

PSL 6

The sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 6) was postponed on March 4 after several players and support staff of different franchises were tested positive for coronavirus. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has shared the proposed schedule for the remaining matches of PSL 2021.

As per the sources, PCB has shared numerous schedules for the remaining PSL 6 matches. One of those suggests a single match every day. Another schedule proposed to play solitary matches on weekdays and double-headers on weekends. The tentative date for the final is likely to be 20th June. The date could be changed as discussions are underway between PCB and PSL franchises.

The sources further revealed that the doubleheaders matches will be started at 4 and 9 pm. However, many franchisees do not agree on the timings of the second match, as it will end late at night, which will cause trouble for the players.

They also proposed that matches should be held at the prime timings for better television ratings.

One of the PSL 6 franchises also expressed concerns about playing repeatedly in the revised schedule.

Another suggestion about scheduling the matches during the end of May despite a clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL) was also floated.

The sources revealed that the board wants to end the league by June 20 so that they can have time to spend with families before the England tour that starts July 8.

Moreover, the quarantine period for the international players is likely to be between seven to ten days.

This girl from Malakand creates portrait on flour strainers

Pakistan is full of talented people. Every other person in the country is gifted with a unique talent, just like this girl from Malakand, who creates portraits on flour stainers.

Almas Khanam Jan from Malakhan, Khyber-Pakhtunkwa has stitched several portraits on the flour stainers – a new art form.

The area residents call Jan’s family ‘Chand Walay’ as her house is located at the hillock.

Almas comes from a family of artists, including sculptors, poets, and musicians. She was one of the heroes of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) segment ‘Humare Heroes’. She was introduced to the world on Wednesday (3rd March) as she was invited to the National Stadium Karachi.

During an interview, Almais said it took 10 days to complete the portrait as “it is not an easy task to perfectly portray with a cotton thread…It takes all my attention.”

She has made many portraits of the famous personalities on the flour stainer including Abdul Sattar Edhi, Benazir Bhutto, Sardar Ali Takkar, Hamid Karzai, and many others. She has gifted some of her artwork to renowned people.

“I will hand over Edhi Sahib’s portrait to his son [Faisal Edhi] very soon,” she said.

Jan, belonging to a small town of KPK, wants to set up her own studio where she can teach her art to other girls.

“I don’t think anyone in the world can do this fine work,” commented Jan’s brother Kamran who is a sculptor.

Almas is studying medicine, however, she wants to continue her career in arts.

“This is my passion and I see something in it that’s more appealing than anything else.”

“People like my work when I share with them via my social media pages,” Jan said, adding, “I think it is because of the social media that my work is being appreciated in the PSL tournament.”
