PM Imran, Belgian counterpart discuss importance of stable Afghanistan

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has discussed the pertaining situation in Afghanistan and the importance of regional stability with his Belgian counterpart Alexander De Croo.

During the telephonic conversation with his Belgian counterpart, PM Imran underscored the importance of a peaceful and stable Afghanistan for Pakistan and for regional stability.

The Prime Minister stressed that the safety and security of Afghans and stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan were vitally important.

The premier further added that peace and reconciliation and an inclusive political solution would contribute to the stabilization efforts.

He also underscored the importance of engagement by the international community in support of the people of Afghanistan, both to address humanitarian needs and help in economic sustenance.

Furthermore, the two Prime Ministers exchanged views on ongoing evacuation efforts. The Belgian premier conveyed thanks for Pakistan’s support and facilitation for their evacuation endeavours.

Also, he extended an invitation to PM Imran Khan to visit Belgium. Both the leaders agreed to remain in close contact.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had praised the effort of a brave cop for saving a man who fell and slipped dangerously close on the platform while the train was passing through a railway station.

In his tweet, the prime minister shared a video clip showing a young police officer on duty at a railway station when a passenger slipped and fell off a platform. He ran and saved the man from crushing under the train.

While saluting the bravery of a policeman, the prime minister wrote, “This is where duty becomes sacred. Admiration for the commitment of the young policeman to serve the people.”
