Jofra Archer unlikely to play for national team before July: ECB

Jofra Archer to undergo intensive rehabilitation period after elbow surgery

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed on Wednesday that pacer Jofra Archer is unlikely to play for national before July as he will be undergoing an intensive rehabilitation period after suffering an elbow injury.

The Cricket Board in a statement today, said Archer’s progress will be reviewed by his consultant in approximately four weeks at which point further guidance will be provided as to when he can return to bowling.

The statement added, Archer is likely to miss the two-match test series against New Zealand, which will begin on June 2, as well as the three-match Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka, which is scheduled on June 23.

Archer was disqualified from the Indian Premier League due to an elbow injury, and he later experienced pain in the same location while bowling for Sussex in an English County Championship match last week.

The board further said that England will lock horns against Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series as well on June 29, followed by a three-match ODI series against Pakistan starting on July 8. Furthermore, England will play against India in a five-test series scheduled on August 4.

Pakistan’s leg-spinner Yasir Shah is celebrating his 35th birthday today.

Shah has been one of Pakistan’s greatest leg spinners that the country has ever produced.

He is a specialist who is known for his leg spinners, flippers and googlies respectively.

Cricket Legend Shane Warne also regards him as one of the best spinners in modern cricket.

He made his Test debut in 2014 against the touring Australian team, replacing Saeed Ajmal who was banned for an illegal bowling action.

Shah picked up 7 wickets in his debut match and went on to claim 12 wickets in the Test series, becoming the second highest wicket-taker which also helped Pakistan to whitewash Australia.

Yasir Shah soon became an important member of the Pakistan bowling unit. During the Test series against Sri Lanka in 2015, he became the fastest bowler to take 50 Test wickets for Pakistan.

He was picked in the squad for the ICC World Cup 2015 but he got to play just a single match. Thereafter, he prominently featured in white clothes for the Men in Green.

Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik has turned 39-year-old today. Malik’s wife Sania Mirza has penned down a cheeky birthday wish on Instagram.

The Indian tennis star player took to her photo-sharing app Instagram and shared a photo of herself and Shoaib from her birthday celebrations.

Sania wrote,

“Happy birthday to this guy who I can’t live with or without 🙄😅🤷🏽‍♀️ May you have the best year, month, and day with lots of love, laughter, and success ..”

She went on to write,
