Imad Wasim: Our aim is to take one game at a time

Imad Wasim:

Imad Wasim, Karachi King’s captain stated that they don’t want to carry the baggage of ‘defending champions’ as Pakistan Super League (PSL) five title win is now part of the past.

Imad Wasim, 32, while talking to the reporters in a virtual presser ahead of PSL 6 reopening, stated that Karachi Kings are up for duty in Abu Dhabi.

He said, “We are not thinking as the defending champions. We aim to play quality cricket. We have added pressure of being the title holders but our priority is to take one game at a time,”

He added, “Nobody has ever defended PSL and if the history is created, it would be great but we are not thinking that way as it’s part of the past now,”

However, Imad also opened up on the debate regarding who will open the innings for the Kings after the franchise picked New Zealand’s ‘Martin Guptill’.

He said, “I am not the type of person who will is fond of making but we will sit together and discuss. You will probably gonna see Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan open the innings,”

Imad revealed that while practicing sessions at night he witnessed a lot of dew on the ground.

He concluded, “It was quite alarming as I haven’t seen that much of the dew in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It’s very complicated and we will sit and wait after viewing the first game [of PSL 6 remainder],”

Rashid Khan: I never wanted to be a cricketer

Rashid Khan shines as Lahore Qalandars defeat Islamabad United.

Rashid Khan recently told in an interview that his family wanted him to be a doctor, as no one is a doctor in his family so his parents never allowed him to play cricket.

Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid (wrist-spinner) developed himself as one of the most demanded bowlers in the T20 leagues. However, he is currently in Dubai to play for ‘Lahore Qalandars’ in the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Rashid in an interview stated how he worked hard to become a top-class cricketer where his parents wanted him to be a doctor. He told that since no one is a doctor in his family and he was pretty good at studies too, so his parents wanted him to be a doctor and they never allowed him to play cricket.

Rashid said, “I wasn’t allowed to play cricket as such. There were no doctors in our family that is why my parents wanted me to become a doctor. Cricket wasn’t in my initial plans and I had to struggle a lot for it. I was pretty good at studies too and I used to go for matches without telling anyone”.

He also told that he never joined any club or academy to enhance his skills. He believes that he always played his ‘natural game’, which helped him to excel well in his career and also helped him to grow a lot.

He said, “I never went to any academy or club. My friends used to take me to matches and I started performing regularly with both bat and ball. As far as my early training is concerned, I never went to a club or an academy and I haven’t received any coaching as well. I was completely natural and it helped me progress as a player”.

PSL 2021: Here Is The Expected Schedule For Remaining PSL 6 Matches

PSL 6

The sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 6) was postponed on March 4 after several players and support staff of different franchises were tested positive for coronavirus. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has shared the proposed schedule for the remaining matches of PSL 2021.

As per the sources, PCB has shared numerous schedules for the remaining PSL 6 matches. One of those suggests a single match every day. Another schedule proposed to play solitary matches on weekdays and double-headers on weekends. The tentative date for the final is likely to be 20th June. The date could be changed as discussions are underway between PCB and PSL franchises.

The sources further revealed that the doubleheaders matches will be started at 4 and 9 pm. However, many franchisees do not agree on the timings of the second match, as it will end late at night, which will cause trouble for the players.

They also proposed that matches should be held at the prime timings for better television ratings.

One of the PSL 6 franchises also expressed concerns about playing repeatedly in the revised schedule.

Another suggestion about scheduling the matches during the end of May despite a clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL) was also floated.

The sources revealed that the board wants to end the league by June 20 so that they can have time to spend with families before the England tour that starts July 8.

Moreover, the quarantine period for the international players is likely to be between seven to ten days.

How Much Pakistan Suffers From PSL 6 Postponement?

PSL Postponed

After the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 6) postponed on Thursday, a heated argument took place between the PSL franchise owners and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) during a virtual meeting.

PSL 6 has been postponed for an indefinite time period after 6 players tested positive for coronavirus.

The PSL franchise owners asked PCB how the novel coronavirus entered the bio-secure bubble?

According to sources, two teams before the beginning of the tournament were shifted to a hotel, and after some time, they were again transferred to another hotel.

During the meeting, the PSL franchise owners expressed anger at PCB for not protecting the bio-secure bubble and allowing other events to take place at the hotel. The PCB, however, accepted its shortcomings at this.

PSL franchise owners spend millions of rupees to buy different national and international players for the tournament. On the other hand, the owners spend money like water for the promotion of their teams. They release the franchise’s official anthems every year, hire different celebrities as brand ambassadors, spend money on the cricket kit, and many more.

The postponing of PSL 6 has financially damaged the PSL franchise owners, which gave them the right to be angry at PCB.

Two players who tested positive for the virus are from Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars.
