CJP Isa rules against calling Supreme Court ‘higher judiciary’

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has prohibited the use of the term “higher judiciary” in reference to the Supreme Court.

During a bail petition hearing, the CJP emphasized that the Constitution does not specify the term “judiciary” for the Supreme Court and insisted that it should be referred to as the “Supreme Court” in accordance with constitutional provisions.

This directive follows the recent ban by the Supreme Court on using the word “sahib” with government officials’ titles, showcasing a commitment to precise language in legal proceedings.

In a previous hearing, CJP Faez Isa had expressed disapproval of addressing a deputy superintendent of police as “sir,” stating that such language has influenced perceptions negatively.
