A 56-year-old Australian woman, Trish Webster, tragically lost her life after reportedly taking the prescribed drug Ozempic to lose weight for her daughter’s wedding.
Ozempic, belonging to the GLP-1 class of drugs used to treat type 2 diabetes, has gained attention on social media, with influencers and celebrities allegedly using it for weight management.
The drug mimics the natural hormone GLP-1, signaling to the brain that the person is full. Trish Webster, inspired by a television ad, obtained a prescription but faced severe consequences, losing 16 kilograms in three months at the expense of her life.
Novo Nordisk, the manufacturer, stated that reports of complications emerged post-circulation, indicating a lack of prior awareness of the associated risks.
